Your Role
You will take ownership of maintaining and improving our in-house Data Platform built on AWS cloud. As a key member of our engineering team, you will design, build, and deploy services on top of the platform, enabling other teams to efficiently access and leverage data for their applications and projects. Your expertise in software engineering and cloud computing will drive the scalability, security, and reliability of our data infrastructure.

Maintain, enhance, and shape the next generation of our AWS-based data platform.

Design and implement new services and features to meet the needs of both clients and internal teams.

Collaborate with data engineers and other stakeholders to ensure data availability, reliability, and scalability.

Build infrastructure and automation to support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using DevOps best practices.

Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code to improve platform functionality and performance.

Take ownership of the full service lifecycle: from design and development to deployment and support.

Ensure the security and high availability of the platform and the services built upon it.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues while continuously working to improve system efficiency and reliability.
What You'll Need
-
Strong background in software engineering, with expertise in cloud computing and DevOps practices.

Hands-on experience in building, deploying, and maintaining services in AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Redshift).

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or Go.

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

Experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance data services.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing best practices.

Ability to manage complex systems and troubleshoot production issues effectively.

Experience working in an agile, cross-functional team environment.
Nice to Have

Experience with big data tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.

Knowledge of data governance, security best practices, and handling large data sets (e.g., Iceberg, Delta Lake).

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Where and How You'd Work
As engineering team lead you are expected to be present and guide the team which is mostly based in our Antwerp office. This can be done partially remotely but we do expect you to bring the team together on key moments and make sure they are motivated and empowered.
Office Mix
This role is currently an Office-Mix Hybrid role. This means you would chat with your leader and team to define the number of days you need to be together to collaborate and achieve outcomes in close proximity. This is often 1 - 2 days a week. The other days you have flexibility.
