What the role involves:

As the Social Media and Communications Strategist for Project Catalyst, you are responsible for the growth and engagement of Project Catalyst’s online presence. You’ll shape and execute Catalyst’s social media and communications strategy across multiple platforms, amplifying community voices, and translating Catalyst’s evolving roadmap and growing ecosystem presence into compelling digital storytelling.  

Reporting to the External Communications Manager, you will collaborate with teams across social media, digital marketing, and events to identify, curate, and distribute content specifically for Project Catalyst, while ensuring all content aligns with IO’s corporate objectives. The role requires someone who understands decentralized communities, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a deep appreciation for blockchain technology and its potential to drive positive change. 

Strategy & content creation

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy and communications calendar tailored to Catalyst’s business goals, and ecosystem dynamics. 
  • Craft compelling communications that translate complex messaging into creative and accessible content, ensure social content aligns with broader brand messaging, company-wide objectives, governance timelines, and ecosystem priorities.
  • Partner with the Catalyst team and community managers to source, repurpose, and amplify community-generated content 
  • Establish a regular cadence of Project Catalyst updates, support with newsletter distribution, and oversee an editorial calendar for the Catalyst team

Community engagement

  • Actively monitor conversations and engage with the Catalyst community on platforms like X, Discord, and other channels
  • Create and implement a playbook for community activation campaigns around voting and proposal feedback sessions to amplify key voices on social media 
  • Host live community interactions (e.g. AMAs, Twitter Spaces, Discord chats) to foster transparency and dialogue between the Catalyst team and the community 
  • Oversee the promotion of reports and updates on Catalyst’s success across social media platforms

Analytics & reporting 

  • Set and track metrics to assess effectiveness of Project Catalyst’s social strategies 
  • Regularly report on results and make data-driven recommendations for improvements to optimize ongoing content and campaign performance
Requirements

Who you are:

  • 5 +years of experience in social media strategy, ideally within the tech, blockchain, or open-source industry 
  • Strong understanding of Twitter/X dynamics, Linkedin, and other social media platforms that foster decentralized/Web3 community engagement
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and thought leadership content 
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related fields
  • Familiarity working in a distributed team experience, while collaborating across verticals to produce exceptional results
  • Possess an entrepreneurial attitude and a genuine passion for the Web3 space
  • An understanding of communications and social media trends in the technology or venture capital sector
