Senior Technical Product Manager – Internal Developer & Cloud Platform
Location: London/Hybrid        

Reporting to: Head of Technology Operations

The Role:
Are you keen to help us evolve the platform used by around 200 engineers, handling approx. 10,000 requests a second, 14 million searches per day, and 1.5 billion minutes of time on site every month, all with less than 53 mins of downtime each year?

The Senior Technical Product Manager sits with the Platform and Reliability Engineering (PRE) team and is responsible for ensuring our internal developer platform and underlying cloud platform is managed like a product with our engineers and their value streams at the core of it.

Rightmove has a significant existing infrastructure, across Google Cloud, on-premises and in SaaS environments.  Our goal is to have a world class technology platform with developer experience, high velocity, security and reliability at its core. Key Responsibilities:

Internal Customer Insights
Develop, maintain and share a prioritised view of our internal customers (Product Teams, Engineers, Security, Product Owners, Data & Analytics team) platform needs, friction points and wants/desires. Calibrate with data and verbatims. Gather segmented, structured customer insights using proactive, formal methods as well as via informal conversations or surveys. 

Platform Capabilities
Create visibility, clarity, awareness, and manage adoption of our platform capabilities. 

Platform Metrics
Define, manage and report on a set of metrics and KPIs for the platform derived from our customer’s value streams.

Ensure incremental value/improvements are delivered through the platform KPIs. Continuously review and re-calibrate KPIs to underlying value.

Platform Roadmap(s)
Collaboratively develop, manage and share customer centric platform roadmaps that articulate the business value in new or changing capabilities and key items impacting customers. 

Ensure big decisions and/or trade-offs are identified and recommendations provided taking in account all factors.

Find all the business value being delivered through the work on the platform and make it visible and relevant for stakeholders.  

Planning and delivery
Own and run the quarterly planning process for PRE, ensuring engagement from teams and visibility for leadership.  

Ensure incremental value/improvements are delivered through the platform.

Collaboratively and consistently challenge everyone on who they are building for and on the business value being delivered in an initiative.

Filter incoming product/project requests to PRE for business value and priority, enabling EMs to easily prioritise requests against in-flight initiatives, backlogs, and future roadmap items.

Ensure all processes and artifacts are documented and these are maintained

Responsibility for what platform functionality gets built when, sits with the PRE Engineering Manager, your role is to highlight and influence through data/metrics the most important things for our customers so they can be considered alongside the internal PRE and other OKR initiatives as part of the quarterly planning process. 

We're looking for someone who:
We are looking for someone with a track record of managing products that have a deeply technical customer base.

Has in-depth experience shaping an internal developer and or cloud platform in a technology and data-led organisation.

Is adept at synchronising and aligning people at all levels of the organisation, both internal to the team as well as our internal customers and stakeholders.

Deeply understands the software development lifecycle, software and platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, DevSecOps principles and how they impact product teams and engineers.

Is passionate about delivering high quality experiences to end users (customer obsessed).

Is a self-starter, proactive and can product high quality outputs that are fit for the audience and purpose.

Actively encourages contributions from all those around them, recognising the value of team members input when solving problems.

Shows a desire to keep learning and improving themselves and the processes within the team.
