Senior Staff Engineer, Business Transformation (CI)
Belfast

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to lead Business Transformation and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives across our Belfast site.

You’ll act as the key point of contact for Lean and Six Sigma activities, driving projects that improve efficiency, cost, and quality while strengthening our CI culture. Working closely with engineering, operations and PMO teams where you’ll lead the analysis, design and implementation of process improvements.

What You’ll Do
  • You’ll be the technical leader for CI and transformation projects that support both site operations and strategic priorities.

  • Act as the site lead for Continuous Improvement, promoting and embedding Lean and Six Sigma practices across all areas of operations.

  • Drive business performance through process optimisation, leading initiatives that improve lead time, productivity, first-pass yield, and cost.

  • Manage and deliver key projects through the PMO, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.

  • Lead and facilitate Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen events, and Lean “lighthouse” projects to deliver sustainable improvement.

  • Partner with Advanced Operations and Process Development teams to support new technology integration, automation, and digital transformation.

  • Train, coach, and mentor engineers, technicians, and operators in Lean tools, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Develop and standardise best practices for industrial engineering and CI systems.

  • Collaborate with production planning and operations teams to ensure changes align with capacity, workflow, and Lean design principles.

  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions for process or quality challenges, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

  • Provide technical leadership and influence across teams, helping shape a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.

  • Participate in cross-site and cross-functional initiatives to share best practices and drive broader transformation efforts.

What You’ll Need
  • Level 6 degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in engineering, operations excellence, or process improvement roles.

  • Strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and their practical application in manufacturing or operations.

  • Proven track record of leading CI or transformation projects from concept to implementation with measurable results.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
