Job description
We are building the future of healthcare. Join the team.

We’re Doccla, the virtual ward company. We provide patients and clinicians with the transformative power of remote patient monitoring.

Our customers are Hospitals, Community Services, and NHS Commissioners that we partner with to deliver tech enabled virtual wards. With our technology, logistics, and support patients can be discharged from a hospital ward to a virtual one and recover in the comfort of their own homes. Patients love our care pathways and health services become more efficient; it’s a win-win. Unsurprisingly, both the number of trusts we work with and the number of patients we support are constantly growing.

You will be building Doccla's Virtual Ward and remote patient monitoring platform and associated services. Your contributions will allow clinical professionals to monitor and interact with millions of patients across the UK and beyond in an effort to improve their clinical outcomes.

We have a rapidly growing team with evolving needs and the applicants who join at this early stage will have a significant impact within the company. You would have the opportunity to work on the full stack, from DevOps to UX and everything in between.

You’ll be:

  • Designing, building and maintaining Doccla’s platform and associated services

  • Improving standards across the team, and helping to drive forward engineering and architecture practices

  • Working across a mixture of tech stacks - we lean on functional programming (clojure and elixir) for back end, and react/typescript for front end, though you will be working with other tech stacks also as we mature

  • Working in a heavily regulated industry, but will be looking for opportunities to minimise friction through automation

  • Working in a high growth B2B business, that mixes sales led and product thinking to ensure we’re building the right thing at the right time for our patients and clients

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is driven by working with others to deliver high quality, tested software in a collaborative fashion

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills/EQ, you are a low ego learner and sharer.

  • The ability to thrive in an environment founded on trust, autonomy and direct communication & feedback

  • Is a proven expert in software engineering, architecture, and delivery

  • A passion for solving problems and taking responsibility from start to end

  • May have some experience within health tech or a heavily regulated industry

  • Experience working in a fast paced and iterative environment

Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these, we value diverse skill sets, and recognise that no one candidate will match all of these - we’d love to hear from you if this role seems like an interesting opportunity for you.

Technologies:
We have:

  • React, React Native, Java, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/AWS/Azure

We appreciate people who have, or we plan to use:

  • Other JVM languages (Kotlin, Clojure), Typescript, Functional programming, Microservices

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
