The Role

Owing to the expansion of our business, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a successful five-person sales team covering large UK based money managers as a Senior Sales Relationship Manager. We are looking for a hard-working, dynamic self-starter who is also a team player. Our client sales team markets to institutional investors (including the world’s top 100 investment and asset management firms, mutual funds, pension funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, and others) across mostly fixed income credit and emerging market products.

How You’ll Help Take Us There

  • Assume coverage of senior UK clients following training, provide back-up to colleagues
  • Have a thorough understanding of fixed income markets, especially Credit and Emerging Markets
  • Understand investor client trading needs and how MarketAxess’ platform can meet them
  • Become proficient in presenting the platform’s functionality to clients to maximize trade enquiries through MarketAxess
  • Be fully conversant with system upgrades and be able to explain these to clients
  • Develop senior relationships with key clients especially at trading desk level
  • Prepare data and presentations for client pitches
  • Provide regular management information for sales team
  • Prepare bespoke reports for clients showing volumes traded on the platform, product segmentation, Trade Cost Analysis
  • Learn to train, set up and take clients live - provide ongoing client training
  • Learn the principles of client integration with MarketAxess through STP connectivity

The candidate will be measured on their ability to deliver on: 

  • Growing client revenue consistent with the firm’s objectives
  • Deepening MarketAxess’ relationships with key buyside personnel/management
  • Broadening the number of products traded on the platform
  • Cross-selling MarketAxess’ data and post trade services
  • Leveraging MarketAxess’ resources to the full – product management, research, senior management; “Delivering The Firm”
  • Proficiency in client coverage using data, presentations, statistical analysis
  • Participation in meetings – client and product feedback
  • Client entertainment and social events
  • Planning and managing backup and support arrangements in event of absence

What We’re Looking For

  • 9+ years’ sales experience from fixed income
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field, preferred
  • Prior broker/dealer, buy-side firm, or other electronic trading venue experience
  • Knowledge of the MarketAxess platform and product suite
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and quotas
  • Interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (eg. negotiation, consultative skills)
  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to successfully partner across functions and lines of business
  • Ability to interact with and provide insight to line-traders and trading management
  • Ability to deliver results amidst continuous change in an agile work environment
  • Ability to proactively tackle business problems with creative solutions
  • Ability to be in office as needed per company requirements
  • Ability to travel for client engagement
