Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our growing compliance team in Brussels. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission and grow as a specialist in regulatory compliance.
Your mission:
Wise continues to pioneer new ways for people and businesses to send, spend and manage their money across borders and currencies. Your mission is, as a member of the regulatory compliance function, to enable Wise to take the business to the next level in accordance with its regulatory obligations.
Your Tasks:
Provide Regulatory Guidance & Oversight: Support strategic expansion and growth projects by offering regulatory advice and application drafting.
Lead Regulatory Audits: Take charge of and oversee regulatory audits.
Strengthen Control Framework: Develop and enhance the existing control framework by implementing clear, auditable processes and conducting second-line reviews.
Monitor Regulatory Compliance & Risk: Track and monitor regulatory risks, ensuring compliance with both regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Implement Regulatory Developments: Oversee the implementation of significant regulatory changes.
Drive Compliance Projects: Proactively address new challenges within the compliance program, adopting a problem-solving approach to design new processes or facilitate inter-team collaboration to meet regulatory demands.
Educate & Empower Internal Teams: Collaborate with various business teams to educate them on Belgian regulatory requirements and empower them to build clearly documented, risk-based processes.
Advise on Product Conformity: Provide independent advice to product and product compliance teams regarding the conformity of new product developments with applicable regulatory requirements.
Maintain Regulator Relationships & Obligations: Within your scope, ensure a transparent and collaborative relationship with regulators, especially in the context of audits/inspections, and fulfill all notification obligations (e.g., major incident reportability assessments, new product notifications, passporting filings).
Adapt to Evolving Needs: Adjust your focus on different compliance issues based on growth plans and evolving compliance needs.
This Role Will Give You the Opportunity To:

Ensure Product Safety & Compliance: Play a key role in maintaining the safety and compliance of our products.
Own Your Impact: Chart your own path to impact and success within the regulatory compliance team of our Belgian entity. You will be empowered with ownership from day one, receiving feedback from smart and curious colleagues across Wise while experiencing unique levels of autonomy.
Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years in a second-line compliance function within a financial institution (preferably payment or e-money institution).
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with passporting and Belgian regulatory requirements, along with sound knowledge of the payments industry's regulatory landscape.
Process & Control Expertise: Demonstrable experience in designing and proactively challenging processes and controls, ideally across multiple products, to foster a compliant yet practical approach to product development and maintenance.
Mission Alignment: Deeply considered how Wise's mission intersects with compliance.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, capable of constructing logical and persuasive arguments for relevant teams that accurately represent regulatory requirements and risks.
Language: Fluent in English. Knowledge of French or Hungarian is a plus, but not required.
