Department OverviewMotorola Solutions is hiring a Production and Capacity Planner to optimize operations at its UK Silent Sentinel facilities (final product assembly and machine shop). This role demands accurate and efficient production and capacity planning for both sites to meet customer delivery targets, shorten lead times, and maximize resource utilization. The ideal candidate will possess a data-driven approach, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, purchasing, and project management teams.
Job Description
This role is primarily on-site at Ware UK with possibly travel to our other site Sandy.
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for both final product assembly and machine shop, aligning and synchronising demand with available capacity and resources.
Develop detailed short-term, medium-term, and long-term production plans to achieve customer and project targets and requirements.
Identification and initiating improvements to mitigate production bottlenecks or constraints.
Convert sales and operations planning (S&OP) outputs into executable plans across machining, assembly, testing, and packaging operations.
Coordinate and align production schedules to ensure efficient flow of components and assemblies.
Material & Inventory Alignment
- Work with the Supply Chain team to align material availability with production needs, reducing both stock outs and excessive inventory.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure supplier deliveries match production requirements.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as plan adherence, capacity utilisation, throughput, and on-time delivery.
- Analyse planning data to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements to processes and systems.
- Support regular capacity reviews and production planning meetings at both sites.
Systems & Process Development
- Maintain and improve planning tools (e.g., ERP/MRP Sage 200 system), ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure planning processes align with Motorola Solutions’ operational excellence and quality frameworks.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate schedules and plans to ensure customer deliveries across production sites, purchasing, and Project Management.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) planning, ensuring sufficient capacity and readiness.
Basic Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, or related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in a production or capacity planning role within a complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, routings, lead times, and planning parameters (e.g., MRP, Kanban, TOC, Lean Manufacturing).
- Proven track record in planning for multi-site operations or integrated supply chains.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Sage 200, SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with capacity modeling or simulation tools.
- Experience with data analytics and visualisation platforms (e.g., Power BI) is a strong advantage.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, capable of prioritising across competing demands.
Desirable Qualifications
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
- Experience in the surveillance or communications manufacturing sector.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance for manufacturing in secure or critical infrastructure markets.
