Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager in London to lead the Safeguarding team within our Treasury.

Safeguarding our customer funds is mission-critical, meaning this role is high-impact and high-visibility. You will ensure we put the safety of customer funds at the heart of what we do, as Wise continues to scale into new markets and products. To achieve this, you will solve complex problems spanning technology, regulation and finance, at global scale.

You’ll be responsible for the technical systems which power safeguarding across multiple regions: processing millions of customer transactions daily in real-time, enabling operational workflows, and ensuring robust auditability and data governance throughout. You will directly lead a team of Engineers and Analysts to develop these systems to support the fast growth and increasing complexity of Wise.

You will develop the systems, processes and controls by which we manage financial and operational risks to customer funds, and solve for regulatory requirements across our jurisdictions. To achieve this you will draw from deep expertise across the business including Operations, Markets, Finance, Compliance, Risk & Controls.

Here’s how you’ll contribute to Wise’s mission:

  • You will ensure our technology stack can scale with the coming decades of Wise’s growth

  • You'll influence and collaborate across functions to build a scalable, globally distributed safeguarding operation that can operate seamlessly across time zones and jurisdictions.

  • You'll navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, translating changes in regulations and payment system capabilities into strategic safeguarding improvements that optimize customer protection and efficiency.

  • You will ensure new regions and product flows are onboarded into our safeguarding control environment, as Wise continues to grow

  • You’ll be a trusted voice to represent our safeguarding programme to senior stakeholders across the business and to external auditors

  • You’ll lead our response to incidents affecting safeguarding, chasing down root causes and driving a culture of continuous improvement

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Develop real-time financial systems at global scale

  • Gain deep expertise in financial markets and payments regulations across multiple jurisdictions

  • Develop leadership skills managing and growing cross-functional teams across Engineering, Analytics, Operations and Compliance.

  • Impact every Wise customer, as your work will play a critical role in ensuring safety of funds is at the core of all our products

  • Choose your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll collaborate with your team to create a vision of your own. Of course, you can always gather feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls

About you:

  • You are a seasoned product manager with approx 4/5+ years of experience, a technical background, and a track record of navigating complex and ambiguous environments.

  • Experienced in working with engineers and analysts; you are enthusiastic about complex technical and analytical challenges.

  • Experienced working in regulated areas. You are just as comfortable driving consensus amongst compliance professionals and auditors as you are discussing technical problems with engineers.

  • You are commercially minded; you can identify and manage risks; and you focus on business outcomes.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
