The Challenge to Solve

Partner with R&D leaders to build high-performing, inclusive teams by aligning people strategy with technical and business priorities.

The Role

As a People Business Partner, you'll partner with leaders across Slice's R&D organization, providing strategic guidance and day-to-day support on the people challenges that come with building and scaling high-performing technical teams. Much of our R&D organization is based across the UK, US, Canada and the Balkans, so you'll work closely with leaders across multiple countries and time zones.

You'll coach managers through performance, organizational design, talent planning, employee relations, and change, helping leaders make thoughtful decisions that strengthen team effectiveness and business outcomes. You'll also work closely with Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Compensation, Finance, and Legal to deliver consistent, scalable People programs that support our global workforce.

Key focus areas include:

  • Partnering with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders on organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and team health.
  • Coaching managers through performance management, employee relations, feedback, and complex people decisions.
  • Supporting organizational change, including team growth, restructures, and leadership transitions.
  • Guiding organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent reviews.
  • Partnering cross-functionally to deliver People programs aligned to business priorities.
  • Using people data and insights to inform recommendations and improve team effectiveness.
  • Helping leaders navigate how AI and evolving ways of working shape teams, roles, and skills.
The Team

The People team at Slice partners closely with leaders across the business to build high-performing teams and support the company's continued growth. You'll report to the VP, People Business Partners.

The Winning Recipe
  • 5+ years' experience as a People Business Partner in a fast-paced or scaling environment.
  • Experience supporting Engineering, Product, or other technical organizations.
  • Strong experience across core People Partner disciplines, including performance management, employee relations, organizational design, talent planning, compensation, and talent reviews.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and coach leaders through complex people challenges.
  • Strong organizational design and workforce planning experience, with the ability to guide leaders through team structure, succession planning, and talent decisions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional People initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Data-informed approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Experience supporting globally distributed teams.
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdiction People practices across Europe.
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies that improve productivity and the employee experience.
