As a Mission Product Manager for Residential Financials, you will own the outcomes that ensure customer bills are produced accurately, compliantly, on time and automatically at scale, while minimising cost to serve. Your mission is to continuously evolve Kraken’s residential financial foundations so that accurate billing becomes the default outcome, not the result of manual effort or bespoke configuration. You will drive the adoption of Kraken’s latest core financial systems, reduce legacy and technical debt and enable our clients to support new markets, regulatory change and product innovation with confidence.
You will focus primarily on residential billing, while coordinating closely with teams upstream (such as Markets for meter data and support defining the products sold to customers and their quoting) and downstream (such as payments and debt) to ensure end-to-end financial outcomes are achievable and consistent.
This role builds on Kraken’s deep experience in residential energy markets, focusing on elevating how residential financials operate at scale to support new markets, increasing regulatory complexity and deeper integration with Kraken’s core capabilities across the platform.
What You'll Do:
- Own the long-term outcome strategy for Residential Financials, defining what accurate, on time, compliant and automated billing means at scale
- Drive the evolution of Kraken’s residential financial capabilities by reducing legacy complexity and enabling new and existing clients to adopt the latest core capabilities
- Translate regulatory and client requirements into clear product principles, system constraints and reusable approaches to establish opinionated defaults that minimise manual intervention and lower cost to serve
- Act as the alignment lead across teams delivering residential financial outcomes, including Commercials, Billing, and Payments, ensuring a shared understanding of approach and intent
- Work closely with other Kraken product areas (such as Kraken Flex, Utilities, and Field) to ensure seamless integration with Kraken’s core capabilities
- Lead trade-off discussions, clearly communicating decisions and guiding teams toward scalable, Kraken wide solutions
- Provide clear guidance to Delivery while ensuring the right product and engineering teams are engaged early, without creating bottlenecks or single points of dependency
- Conduct discovery to understand the financial needs of new and existing residential markets and customer segments
- Define the requirements needed to support increasing scale and complexity, ensuring Kraken’s core framework continues to serve the widest possible range of clients and markets
Key Success Metrics & Outcomes:
- Your success is defined by reliable residential financial outcomes, measured and tracked through clear metrics, shared alignment across teams, reduced delivery complexity, and the ability to scale residential customers with confidence across clients and markets.
- Accurate, on time and compliant residential billing across all supported markets.
- High levels of automation across billing and financial processes, minimising manual corrections and interventions and reducing cost to serve in a mass-market context
- Alignment between what is quoted and offered to customers and what is ultimately billed and collected
- Your success is defined by establishing a shared understanding of how Residential financial outcomes should be delivered across Product, Delivery and Operations with visible buy-in reflected in team roadmaps
- Ensure new market and client requirements are met through existing Kraken capabilities, avoiding unnecessary bespoke solutions
- Maintain a reliable financial backbone across Kraken systems, enabling clients to offer both regulatory required and innovative products and services with confidence
What You'll Need:
- Highly capable Individual Contributor who wants to become a domain expert
- 5+ years of experience in product management within a tech or SaaS environment
- Strong understanding of product management methodologies, agile development, and user-centric design
- Experience with financial systems (billing, payment, pricing) at scale and managing complex operational processes where data integrity is preferred
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear, actionable product guidance
- Fluency in English is required
- The ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and align multiple teams around shared outcomes
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of the energy market is a significant plus
- A strong technical background will give you a significant advantage (e.g., understanding of SQL, data architecture and financial and billing data models)
