Senior Mechanical Engineer

Since 2023, Anduril UK has experienced rapid growth, introducing world-leading software-first, hardware-enabled systems to the UK Ministry of Defence and other government agencies. Our exemplar programme of Maritime Sentry Towers (MST), has been developed and delivered in close partnership with the UK government and sovereign British industry, fundamentally changing how border security and surveillance capabilities can be employed by UK authorities. Additionally, Anduril UK has expanded its portfolio to include the ALTIUS-600, a versatile autonomous aerial system, and Seabed Sentry, an advanced underwater surveillance platform. World-leading technology like MST, ALTIUS-600, Seabed Sentry, and many of the other autonomous systems that will underpin the UK's technological future rely on modern C4 systems. • Own and drive the physical design of the payload carriage and release for a novel aircraft type, overseeing the process from initial concept to low rate production.
• Participate in technical efforts to define requirements, propose possible solutions, and establish a methodology for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems. This will involve close collaboration with partner organizations, in both the UK and US.
• Work in close partnership with other disciplines internal to Anduril to ensure the electrical, software, and mechanical systems collectively form a reliable, flexible, cost-effective system.
• Spearhead design reviews, conduct analysis, prototype and implement hardware test plans.
• Actively contribute to the enhancement of team tools, templates, processes, and standards.
• Cultivate a vibrant, positive, dedicated, educational, and enjoyable collaborative work environment.
• Travel to test sites and vendors to support critical hardware demonstrations and development test activities as needed.

• BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years in a technical engineering role in a professional aerospace setting, with demonstrated track record of successful stakeholder management, consensus building and successful project delivery.
• Experience in NX/Teamcenter and strong proficiency in CAD software with specific emphasis on complex fixturing and tooling design.
• Strong technical knowledge in core engineering principles, fundamental mechanics of composite and metallic materials, design, analysis, testing, and fabrication.
• Deep understanding of load paths, design practices, and hand calculations to design robust structurally efficient assemblies.
• Hands-on experience supporting assembly fixturing and tooling full life cycle development through design, procurement, build, and implementation.
• An excellent communicator, experienced in report writing and the development and delivery of presentations across a range of settings.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.K. security clearance.

• Experience with design and development of payload carriage and release systems.
• Broad experience in leading tooling and manufacturing of composite and metallic structures.
• Experience in systems integration during airframe assembly, particularly focusing on mechanical systems.
• Experience in metrology verification methods and equipment used for aircraft assembly fixturing and part fabrication.
• Demonstrated passion for aviation, aerospace, and/or unmanned systems.
• Familiarity with running structural development testing.
• Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills.
