Senior Manager, Project Management Global Design Luxury
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Project Management – Luxury Europe supports the delivery of design and project management activities across Marriott International’s Luxury portfolio in Europe. Reporting to the Director, Luxury Europe, this role is responsible for managing renovation, conversion, and new development projects for managed, franchised, and company-owned hotels, ensuring brand compliance, operational excellence, and design quality within approved budgets and timelines.
The role partners closely with Owners, Development, Brand, Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to oversee projects from concept through opening. This includes managing consultant coordination, reviewing design documentation, ensuring operational acceptability, and supporting executive approval processes. The position plays a key role in protecting and elevating Marriott Luxury Brands across the region while fostering strong owner relationships and delivering successful project outcomes.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Design & Project Management
- Deliver managed and franchised projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with Marriott Luxury brand standards
- Manage renovation and new development projects from concept through opening, ensuring quality assurance and operational acceptability
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including Fire Life Safety, MEP, Security, IT, F&B, Asset Management, Legal, Sustainability, and consultant teams
- Represent Marriott International’s interests with owners and developers, building strong relationships and driving preference and repeat business
- Support Development with feasibility reviews of plans and drawings for potential projects
- Provide overall direction to professional design teams regarding design strategy, brand standards, and operational requirements
- Make project-based decisions and act as an innovative problem solver in collaboration with Owners, Brand, Operations, and design teams
- Lead and communicate project and process details during internal and external kick-off meetings
- Support presentations for Continent Design Review and Hotel Development Committee approvals
- Review and comment on design drawings, construction documentation, and specifications to ensure brand compliance and operational alignment
- Review model guestrooms and inspect designs to ensure adherence to brand requirements
- Maintain punch and turnover processes in partnership with Marriott’s Openings Team
- Assess existing properties for conversion opportunities and prepare Property Improvement Plans (PIPs)
- Support renovation projects from scope definition and design brief development through final project sign-off
- Participate in value engineering processes to support budget adherence and project feasibility
Financial & Operational Management
- Partner with Global Design Accounting to manage projects within approved budgets
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, budget, and timeline expectations
- Balance brand standards, guest expectations, owner priorities, and commercial considerations in decision-making
Stakeholder & Owner Relations
- Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with owners, franchisees, and stakeholders
- Ensure consistent communication, collaboration, and alignment with regional teams and hotel leadership
- Act as a key point of contact throughout project lifecycles to support customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by leadership
- Comply with Marriott International Regional Office policies and procedures
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality architecture, design, and/or project management preferred
- Experience managing multiple projects within fast-paced environments
- Strong understanding of hotel design, renovation, and development processes
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of innovation and trends both within and outside the hospitality industry
- Excellent business acumen and commercial awareness
- Strong problem-solving and creative solution skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and mechanical drawings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with architectural software including Bluebeam, Adobe, and drawing review tools
- Ability to balance brand expectations, guest experience, owner priorities, and operational requirements
Education & Professional Certification
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent industry experience
- Architecture, Interior Design, or Project Management accreditation preferred
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Location: London
- High proficiency in English required; additional language skills preferred
- Approximately 60% business travel required
