About this opportunityBecome part of the Banking Products Legal team. We are a supportive legal team which assist the BCB (Business and Commercial Bank) and CIB (Corporate and Investment Bank) within the Group.
Banking Products Legal supports six business teams - Cash Management and Payments, Merchant Services, Commercial Cards, Trade Finance, Asset Finance and Invoice Finance.
This role is within the Trade Finance legal team which supports all core trade, trade loans, guarantees, export credit agency, open account and structured trade and distribution products. The Trade Finance business teams are specifically committed to rapidly growing their existing receivables purchase and commodities finance offering over the next few years.
You'll use your experience to give proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused advice and support to our Trade Finance business with its bold growth strategy.

We would want you to be able to:operate as a subject matter specialist, supporting colleagues in the business and other functional areas;
provide legal support for product development and innovation, legal and regulatory change projects, rectifications and remediations, industry change initiatives, customer on-boarding and customer journeys;
proactively identify, report and support the management of legal and governance risks, recommending solutions when needed;
collaborate with team members and work cross-functionally to help delivery business strategy;
manage panel law firms and build and maintain positive relationships with external lawyers;
reflect on service delivery and look for continuous improvement activities; and
stay on top of regulatory, industry and legal change.

What you’ll needQualified as a solicitor in the UK (or equivalent qualification) with significant experience post qualification.
A good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to trade finance, ideally with a specialism towards either receivables purchase or commodities finance.
An ability to build strong, collaborative relationships
Confidence in using experience and insights to influence, inform and challenge
Providing legal support to a trade finance, commodity finance, export credit agency or receivables purchase business. Subject matter expertise in at least one of these areas will be required.
