Mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Senior Identity and Access Management (IAM) Specialist, you’ll be a key member of our Cyber team, responsible for maintaining secure access controls across Westpac New Zealand’s IT systems. You’ll ensure correct authentication and authorisation for users and services, support compliance activities, and provide expert guidance on access governance.
You’ll lead the Governance across IAM, providing regular reporting on the effectiveness and functionality of the IAM Controls while mentoring others and contributing to a world-class IAM Controls and Oversight function. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across technology and business teams, influence best practice, and drive continuous improvement.
Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do
Lead the reporting across IAM from onboarding to retirement.
Ensure our controls align to Policy & Standards.
Own the end to end onboarding and signoff process.
Engage with auditors during reviews providing a thorough understanding of each control ensuring this is backed up with documentation for evidencing.
Enable correct user access by applying deep knowledge of account structures, WNZL applications, and security principles.
Initiate and facilitate User Access Reviews, offering guidance and resolving customer queries.
Provide expert support and advice for identity and access issues within agreed service levels.
Contribute to the development and communication of best practices, standards, and processes.
Maintain security records and documentation to meet governance and assurance requirements.
Ensure compliance with internal IAM policies across business users.
Respond to audit-related information requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and communicate security considerations to stakeholders.
Promote awareness of IAM policies and expectations across the organisation.
Deliver customer-focused identity and access solutions that reduce friction and enhance experience.
Collaborate with the wider Cybersecurity team to ensure IAM is integrated across all security domains.
Continuously improve your skillset and seek opportunities for innovation.
Lead agile activities to prioritise work, drive efficiency, and foster continuous improvement.
Inspire and positively influence team members.
Support the broader Cybersecurity team by providing IAM expertise and guidance.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
Proven experience in analysis and strong reporting, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent proficiency in interpreting and analysing identity-related data across systems and platforms.
In-depth experience using Identity and Access Management tools to govern access across on-prem and cloud solutions.
Demonstrated knowledge of Identity Management principles, including Authentication, lifecycle management, governance, reporting, access management, and privileged access.
Strong understanding of information security and risk management principles, with practical application in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with audit processes and regulatory frameworks, including APRA CPS234 and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Ability to apply IAM principles across large-scale technology and business environments.
Capability to lead agile activities, prioritise work effectively, and drive continuous improvement.
Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and translate technical requirements into business outcomes.
A proactive mindset focused on delivering secure, compliant, and user-friendly identity and access solutions.
