Mō te tūranga | About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join our External Reporting team and utilise your audit or financial services background and expertise, whilst growing your career in financial services. 

Our high achieving External Reporting team is seeking a chartered accounting professional who is looking for a well-rounded finance role, providing exposure across all segments of the Finance team and the Bank, and the statutory external reporting function within Finance.

You will ideally have a good background in and passion for the financial services sector, where you will be a key part of the team fulfilling the external reporting requirements for the bank. You will have a strong background in statutory reporting, either through your auditing or financial reporting background.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of External Reporting you will be responsible for:

  • External statutory, regulatory and treasury reporting for Westpac (WNZL) and its subsidiaries;

  • Perform financial analysis and provide commentary on analysis.

  • End to end financial control for all entities within the wider Westpac Group;

  • Involvement in various projects across the wider Finance team.

  • Partner with other parts of the Finance team, as well Treasury, Legal and Risk teams.

This role provides great exposure to the wider Westpac organisation who contribute to the financial reporting and offers plenty of opportunity to challenge and improve existing processes.

  • Tertiary qualifications in an accounting discipline

  • Qualified CA or equivalent

  • General understanding of external reporting practices

  • Familiarity with a disclosure management system (preferred)

  • Understanding of Financial Services and Banking industry

  • Previous Big Four Audit or financial services industry or listed company experience
