As a Senior Engineering Manager of our client-side Navigation products, you will lead our Navigation SDK & Apps team through an amazing period of growth. You will be responsible for organizing your team’s day-to-day work, fostering the growth and development of the people on the team, and aligning the team’s work with the company's priorities. Thousands of customers rely on Mapbox services to seamlessly handle billions of requests every day and scale in real-time to global events. You will lead the delivery of solutions that remain robust, reliable, and innovative in a fast-evolving technological landscape.
Provide strategic direction and innovation in the design and implementation of the mobile SDK suite’s capabilities
Manage and develop the team through hiring, retaining, mentoring, and continually building the team’s capabilities
Drive company, product, and team objectives, carrying your team along in the decision-making process.
Work closely with product to figure out what our customers need, and develop a strategic plan to address their pain
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and data-driven decisions on the team
Help your team members and direct reports learn new skills, either through your own guidance or by proactively finding them mentors
Develop the long-term business strategy and drive the team’s work product
7+ years of people management experience: Experience leading and mentoring a high-performing engineering team (preference to leading mixed teams spanning Android and iOS).
Hire & Develop: You understand the importance of hiring the best diverse talent and creating a culture where your team members can learn & grow with the organization.
Technical Expertise: Experience designing and developing complex mobile software with strong performance requirements.
Operational Excellence: You drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement within your team and personally embody a passion for monitoring, metrics, triage, resolving customer issues, and iterative improvement. You help foster the end to end development of clearly designed interfaces, documentation, thorough test coverage, and effective code reviews.
Ownership & Execution: You own the vision, lead the strategy, and guide the team to execute towards building the future of your product.
Customer Focus: You care deeply about your customers and their problems, and you work tirelessly to innovate on their behalf.
Strong written and verbal communication: You can talk and write about complex ideas concisely to a wide audience.
Experience working with AWS (S3, ECS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation)
