PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Senior Business Intelligence Analyst in Westport, Co. Mayo or Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire on a permanent basis reporting to Business Intelligence Manager. JOB SUMMARY:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join us as we expand our data capabilities. Collaborating with data stakeholders, the role focuses on developing and implementing new data, analytics, and business intelligence strategies throughout the business.

You will be an expert in Qlik, data modelling, and data visualisation, demonstrating innovative new approaches to data visualisation dashboards, ensuring solutions are intuitive, scalable, and tailored to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

BI Strategy & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and align BI initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Translate business objectives into technical data solutions that support decision-making across departments.
  • Contribute to the long-term BI roadmap, ensuring scalability, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Data Modelling & Dashboard Design

  • Design and implement advanced data models that enable accurate, real-time reporting and insights.
  • Develop high-impact dashboards and visualisations using Qlik Sense, Qlik SaaS, and related tools.
  • Ensure all reporting solutions are intuitive, interactive, and tailored to user needs at all levels.

Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Analyse complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies that drive strategic decisions.
  • Use statistical techniques and forecasting methods to provide actionable business insights.
  • Deliver ad-hoc and scheduled reports that respond to evolving business priorities.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Perform data validation, audits, and cleansing to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Implement and promote best practices for data governance, documentation, and access control.
  • Collaborate with IT and data owners to resolve data-related issues and inconsistencies.

Mentoring & Stakeholder Support

  • Guide and support junior analysts by sharing best practices and offering technical training.
  • Partner with business users to improve data literacy and enable self-service BI adoption.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that bridges the gap between technical teams and business users.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional Business Intelligence experience.
  • Proven experience building advanced dashboards and visualisations in Qlik SaaS or Qlik Sense.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to analyse complex data sets, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in set analysis, data modelling and SQL.
  • Ability to identify and resolve data-related issues, troubleshoot problems, and find creative solutions.
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior analysts, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. Ability to train business users
  • Ability to align BI initiatives with the overall business strategy and contribute to business growth.

DESIBRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Qlik Sense Data Architect Certification.
  • Experience with Jira.
  • Experience with Azure data warehousing and factory.
  • Exposure to Business Intelligence with AI.
