About Zego

At Zego, we understand that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It's too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't reflect how well you actually drive. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to change that by offering the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.
From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. We've sold tens of millions of policies and raised over $200 million in funding. And we’re only just getting started.

Overview of team

The mission of the BI & Analytics team at Zego is to deliver relevant and reliable information to the right people at the right time, enabling rapid and effective decision-making supported by data.  It is a small and dynamic team, responsible for all the aspects related to data, including making data available, data cleaning, extraction, problem formulation and definition of success metrics, reporting and analytics.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Senior Analytics Engineer with a strong commercial sense and a natural curiosity for data. You are as comfortable designing and building robust data models as you are engaging with stakeholders to understand their business needs. You have a solid technical background and are confident working autonomously in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. At Zego, you will help shape and scale our data infrastructure to enable decision-making and support key strategic initiatives.

What you will be doing

Data Modelling & Engineering:

    • Gather requirements from stakeholders and design scalable data solutions
    • Build and maintain robust data models and exposures in the data warehouse using dbt, Snowflake, and Looker
    • Document architectural decisions, modelling challenges, and outcomes in a clear and structured way
    • Wrangle and integrate data from multiple third-party sources (e.g., Salesforce, Amplitude, Segment, Google Ads)

Data Quality & Operations:

    • Ensure quality, reliability, and stability across data models and pipelines
    • Create secure, efficient data shares for external partners (e.g., S3, SFTP, Snowflake Data Sharing)
    • Contribute to the evolution and continuous improvement of our data platform, tooling, and processes

Stakeholder Enablement:

    • Support business users across the company to promote a culture of data-driven decision-making
    • Translate complex business questions into well-designed data solutions and metrics
    • Enable and maintain self-service capabilities within our BI tools

About you

    • You will have a minimum 3 years’ experience as an Analytics Engineer or in a similar role
    • You will have proven experience in designing and maintaining data models for warehousing and business intelligence
    • You will have advanced SQL skills; experience with dbt and/or Looker is strongly preferred
    • You will be proficient with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, AWS, GCP, Looker, Tableau, Airflow)
    • You will have experience with version control tools such as Git
    • You will have exposure to Python for data or analytics engineering tasks (preferred)
    • You will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
    • You will have experience in the insurance sector (preferred but not required)
    • You will have strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
    • You will be someone who’s actively curious about how AI can enhance your work - keen to experiment, learn quickly, and apply tools that improve productivity, streamline tasks, or unlock new ways of thinking. Whether you’re already hands-on or fast building confidence, you take ownership of staying ahead and working smarter.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
