School Communications Associate Manager
Salary: Circa £43,000 - £45,000 per annum depending on experience (pro rata equivalent £34,400 - £36,000)
Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (13 Months), Part-Time, 30 hours per week

About the Role
The School Communications Associate Manager reports to the Global Stakeholder Communications Manager and sits within the Marketing and Communications Department, which is situated within the Community Partnerships & Development Office. The Marketing & Communications Department is responsible for all internal and external branding, marketing and communications for the IB. The department aims to increase awareness, engage meaningfully with our schools and students and promote the mission while safeguarding our reputation as a world leader in International Education.
The post holder will work on planning, content development and delivery of key schools communications campaigns in line with wider marketing and communications strategic goals in a timely and organised way. They will work closely with internal functions such as IB Answers, IBWS, Learning and Teaching and other departments within the IB to ensure one aligned message across communications related to IB schools and projects.
This opportunity is offered on a Hybrid basis from our office in Cardiff (UK) or the Hague (Netherlands), ideally working one day per week onsite. We also welcome applications from individuals living a commutable distance who seek differing working patterns (for example, coming onsite more than once per week or less often at once a fortnight).
This role will require travel on an occasional basis at no more than 10% of working time. Travel will be in the form of 'Team Offsites', which the Global department all join and could be held at any of our Global Offices. This is in addition to visiting IB Schools and attending IB events (such as country-level conferences and IB Association Days).
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Managing and supporting school communications planning, advising colleagues on communications in conjunction with the Global Communications team planning.
- Creating print and digital communications to schools (for example newsletters), with a view to developing creative and engaging ways to interact with our school communities. Design, create and edit images, illustrations, graphics and other visual elements in line with house style, for use in assessments and related material.
- Partnering with colleagues to identify needs of schools, educators and internal stakeholders.
- First point of contact for the marketing team to work with on all learning and teaching and assessment related campaigns and initiatives.
- Collaborating with the Global Stakeholder Communications Manager on development of school communication global strategy.
- Striving to ensure that Learning and teaching and Assessment communications deliver on strategic objectives for the respective functions.
About You
- Similar Communications experience gained from a role requiring a large degree of internal and external stakeholder management, ideally within an international setting.
- Excellent rapport building skills with the ability to listen and build trust whilst to then consult and push-back during conversations with internal and external stakeholders if required for the success of the task.
- Comfortable operating in a complex matrix structure with direct and dotted line reporting.
- Native (or near-perfect) English writing and editing skills is essential. Other language skills (especially French and Spanish) will be a distinct advantage.
- Able to show an understanding of the nature of providing content to a Global Community like our IB schools.
