Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
We are looking for a Sales Manager to lead our growing team of Account Executives and increase revenue against individual, team and overall Sales goals. You will be a brand ambassador for Square UK and help find opportunities for Square to help UK businesses grow. Your entrepreneurship will be a valuable contribution to developing our strategy, growing our SMB and Mid-Market sales team, and establishing a culture of crisp execution.
As a people manager with sales experience (specifically new business), you will build a successful Sales team that generates success for our sellers and Square. You'll use insights and deep Square product knowledge to educate and support sellers, understanding how our ecosystem of products can fit different types of businesses. You will work with Square sellers of all sizes and will report to the Head of Sales, UK.
You will:

  • Create a team culture of trust, accountability, success and fun where people are encouraged to share information, constructively debate, and communicate freely
  • Support direct reports by participating in client and prospect meetings
  • Mentor and develop a team of senior salespeople which includes hiring and training new account executives on sales process
  • Refine the outbound sales strategy, process, and tactics to improve performance
  • Use sales metrics to manage the team and individual AEs, tracking the results and succinctly reporting to senior management
  • Conduct weekly pipeline review and forecast meetings with AEs
  • Coach direct reports regarding strategies to drive revenue and customer success
  • Use the customer voice to drive improvements in interactions and product
  • Envision new and innovative ideas and approaches and take them to fruition

Qualifications
You have:

  • 6+ years of sales experience with documented sales success and a proven track record above 100% as an individual contributor in the UK/EMEA
  • 2+ years of experience in people management
  • Solid knowledge and experience in successful outbound tools and sales processes
  • Expertise in creating rigor around sales metrics and managing yourself or others to achieve metrics
  • Demonstrated success mentoring, coaching and onboarding salespeople
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills across global teams and departments
  • The ability to rapidly hire and train new account executives
  • The ability to streamline decision-making and consider the downstream and upstream effects of potential decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, communication and listening skills
  • BA/BS degree required

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
