Your Role: Sales Consultant

As Sales Consultant, you will build trusted relationships with dairy and beef farmers, Sales Managers, and branch teams across merchant and veterinary trade accounts to grow Elanco's presence and performance in the region. In this field-based regional role, you will combine account management, sales planning, technical product support, and customer education to deliver profitable growth and strengthen the Elanco brand with key accounts and farmers alike. You will also work closely with internal cross-functional teams to identify market opportunities, support customer needs, and drive strategic account plans.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver annual sales targets, profitable sales volume, and strategic account objectives across assigned regional accounts, using account business plans to guide activity and performance.
  • Build and grow relationships with dairy and beef farmers, merchant branches, veterinary trade stakeholders, and strategic accounts through effective account management, customer needs analysis, and value-based selling.
  • Lead joint planning with strategic account partners to set performance objectives, financial targets, and short- and long-term milestones, while balancing time between branch-based account activity and direct customer engagement.
  • Provide high-quality sales support and facilitate customer education, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, by applying product, industry, and technical knowledge relevant to animal health and agriculture.
  • Partner with internal technical, marketing, business, and management teams to address local market needs, develop new business opportunities, and ensure customer complaints and product-related issues are reported in line with company guidelines.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • A minimum of 3 years of sales experience, ideally in animal health, agriculture, veterinary, or a related industry.
  • Strong commercial business acumen with a track record of delivering sales results and managing customer relationships across regional accounts.
  • Technical learning agility, with the ability to understand, apply, and communicate scientific or product information to customers and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated interest in the animal health industry and its stakeholders, including farmers, veterinarians, and nutritionists, with knowledge of agriculture and livestock production or a clear willingness to build that knowledge quickly.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience in ruminant animal health, with particular interest in dairy and sheep sectors.
  • Success in persuasion, influencing, and negotiation across different levels of a customer organization.
  • Strong presentation skills in both face-to-face and virtual settings.
  • Ability to build long-term business relationships and coordinate cross-functional support without direct line management responsibility.
  • A curious, innovative, and adaptable approach, with the flexibility to learn new products, diseases, and market needs over time.

Additional Information:

  • High % of travelling and overnight stays based on customer and team requirements.
  • Location: Field-based (Anywhere in UK)

Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown underrecognized groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Elanco we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive work environment. If you think you might be a good fit for a role but don't necessarily meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may be the right candidate for this role or other roles!

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
