At Westpac, we’re building smarter, more connected risk insights to support better decisions across the bank. We’re looking for a Risk Insights & Reporting Analyst with hands-on SAS and Power BI experience to help deliver high-quality credit risk reporting, actionable insights, and innovative data solutions. You will turn complex datasets into clear, actionable stories for senior stakeholders, support decision-making across credit and credit portfolio teams, and help maintain high standards of data quality and governance. The role suits candidates from banking or other data-rich industries who can translate analytics into plain-language recommendations.

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong analyst who enjoys working with complex data, telling clear stories through reporting, and partnering closely with stakeholders across Risk and the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce internal and regulatory risk reporting on risk metrics, trends, and drivers for senior management and risk committees, ensuring accuracy, consistency, data quality, and compliance with governance standards.

  • Deliver high quality credit risk reporting and actionable insights through advanced numerical analysis, clear commentary, and effective data storytelling.

  • Analyse portfolio performance and identify emerging risk signals. 

  • Use hands-on SAS to query, transform, validate, and analyse large, complex datasets.

  • Build and maintain dashboards, and automated reports using SAS, SQL and Power BI

  • Translate data into plain-language insights and present findings to non-technical audiences. 

  • Collaborate with credit, finance, and wider bank to ensure data integrity and alignment of metrics. 

  • Support ad-hoc requests and deep-dive analyses

  • Drive continuous improvements in capital, provisioning, and portfolio reporting through automation, innovation, and best practice solutions.

  • Partner with Risk Analytics colleagues and senior stakeholders to deliver integrated outcomes and act as a trusted advisor on risk data and reporting.

 Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • 3+ years’ hand-on experience in data analysis, credit risk reporting, quantitative analysis, or a similar analytical role within financial services.

  • 3+ year’s hands on experience with SAS and/or

  • 3+ year’s hands on experience with SQL for data extraction, transformation and validation.

  • 3+ year’s Power BI and/or Tableau experience. 

  • Proven ability to analyse, validate, and interpret large datasets with accuracy and rigour. 

  • Attention to detail and strong data governance mindset.

  • Excellent communication - able to tell a clear data story in plain language and present to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • A proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.

  • Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Finance or related field. 

  • Desirable: Prior experience in banking, credit risk, or asset quality reporting. Familiarity with regulatory reporting and risk frameworks. Solid understanding of credit products, portfolio performance drivers, and risk concepts.  Experience with Python or R for supplementary analysis.
