QA Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support complex enterprise application testing initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing comprehensive quality assurance activities, developing testing artifacts, validating integrations, and ensuring high-quality solution delivery across multiple systems and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform functional and non-functional system testing for interfaces, core applications, extensions, enhancements, and defect resolutions.
  
• Test bug fixes and application changes based on identified defects and critical system updates.
  
• Create complete system testing documentation and artifacts, including:
  
• Test strategies
  
• Test plans
  
• Test cases
  
• Test scripts
  
• Automated test scripts
  
• Test result reports
  
• Defect logs
  
• Transform business, functional, and technical requirements into effective test planning and execution activities.
  
• Create and manage test data required for testing activities.
  
• Analyze testing results and perform retesting until expected outcomes are achieved.
  
• Participate in walkthroughs, reviews, and user validation sessions.
  
• Recommend improvements to ensure acceptable testing outcomes and support implementation readiness.
  
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, product owners, and project stakeholders to establish effective testing approaches.
  
• Investigate, track, and resolve testing and production issues while maintaining service quality and integrity.
  

Required Qualifications

Public Sector & Healthcare Experience

• 5+ years of experience working with federal, provincial, broader public sector, or healthcare organizations.
  
• Knowledge of public sector enterprise architecture artifacts, processes, and best practices.
  
• Experience producing technical documentation aligned with industry standards.
  
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks.
  
• Experience supporting health-related technology projects.
  
• Understanding of public sector IT governance, approval processes, and delivery methodologies.
  
• Experience working on large, complex enterprise technology initiatives.
  

QA & Systems Testing Experience

• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Testing / QA Specialist.
  
• Experience leading testing activities and providing guidance to junior testers.
  
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies in object-oriented environments.
  
• Experience across all phases of system testing including:
  
• Test strategy
  
• Tool selection
  
• Test planning
  
• Test case development
  
• Test data preparation
  
• Manual testing
  
• Automated testing
  
• Defect management
  
• Experience testing:
  
• Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions
  
• Web applications
  
• APIs
  
• HL7-FHIR web services
  
• RESTful services
  
• XML/JSON integrations
  
• Reporting solutions
  
• Integration components and enhancements
  
• Experience testing security components utilizing SAML and JWT.
  
• Experience creating comprehensive testing artifacts and documentation.
  
• Experience developing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium.
  
• Experience with API testing and interface validation tools including:
  
• SOAP UI
  
• Postman
  
• Similar testing tools
  
• Strong SQL and data validation experience.
  
• Experience performing Accessibility Testing aligned with WCAG standards.
  
• Experience with accessibility testing tools supporting regulatory compliance requirements.
  
• Experience producing performance, security, and defect reporting documentation.
  
• Experience testing Business Intelligence (BI) solutions including:
  
• Data integration
  
• Reporting validation
  
• Dashboard validation
  
• Data integrity verification
  
• Experience validating production deployments and release implementations.
  
• Experience executing cross-system integration testing.
  
• Experience reviewing business and technical requirements from a testing perspective.
  
• Experience working within Agile, traditional, and DevOps delivery environments.
  
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  
• Strong knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  
• Ability to identify issues early through testing-focused reviews of project documentation.
  
• Knowledge of information management principles and best practices.
  

Defect Management & Reporting

• 7+ years of experience with:
  
• Identifying and documenting issues and risks
  
• Maintaining defect logs and summary reports
  
• Tracking project and testing activities
  
• Participating in cross-functional meetings
  
• Prioritizing testing activities based on risk and business priorities
  
• Managing testing challenges related to environments and test data
  
• Participating in walkthroughs, reviews, and triage sessions
  
• Experience using tools such as:
  
• Jira
  
• Confluence
  
• TestRail
