The QA/Release Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and stability of IP Fabric’s on-premises software releases. This role oversees the full release lifecycle — from testing and validation to packaging and delivery — ensuring each release meets the required quality standards. The position bridges QA, Engineering, and Product Management to coordinate version control, documentation, and readiness for customer delivery.
- Create and maintain QA strategy and propagate it to the organisation by leading the QA guild.
- Develop, maintain, and execute test plans and automated test suites tailored for on-prem environments.
- Oversee functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
- Define and track QA metrics (e.g., defect density, test coverage, release validation success rate).
- Manage QA environments that simulate customer setups.
- Collaborate with developers to identify, document, and resolve defects.
- Continuously enhance QA processes, automation, and tooling.
- Own and manage the full release lifecycle — from build creation to final package delivery.
- Coordinate and verify versioning, packaging, and configuration consistency across releases.
- Validate upgrade paths, rollback procedures, and backward compatibility.
- Manage release documentation, changelogs, and validation reports.
- Coordinate release candidate sign-offs with engineering and product teams.
- Communicate release readiness, risks, and deployment notes to stakeholders.
- Ensure reproducibility and traceability of builds through proper tagging and artifact management.
- Work with DevOps to optimize build pipelines and automate validation stages.
- Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD workflows (e.g., build verification, smoke tests).
- Drive adoption of automation to improve consistency and reduce manual steps in packaging and testing.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Support teams to align on release goals.
- Conduct release readiness and retrospective meetings.
- Ensure support teams are well-prepared for release rollouts and troubleshooting.
- 5+ years of experience in QA, release management, or related roles.
- Experience managing on-prem or enterprise software release processes.
- Solid understanding of software packaging and distribution mechanisms (e.g., Docker images, Debian/RPM packages, Helm charts, or virtual machine images).
- Familiarity with automated testing tools (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Playwright).
- Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitLab CI) and artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus).
- Strong Linux and scripting skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong coordination and communication skills across teams.
- Understanding of software development Life cycle and agile methodologies.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple release streams.
- Familiarity with configuration management and version control.
- Experience with customer on-prem deployment processes.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or virtualization platforms.
- Exposure to security and compliance testing for enterprise software.
- ISTQB or similar QA certification. PMP or similar in project management.
