Scopely is looking for a QA Analyst to join our unannounced project team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis, working 3 days a week from the hub, remote/ hybrid from Dublin or on a remote basis from the UK or Portugal.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and aim to inspire play every day—whether in our work environments alongside talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing, and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey!

What You Will Do

Embedded within the Core Tech Pod, you will play a key role in validating foundational systems that power the player experience. Reporting to the QA Lead, you’ll be responsible for ensuring high-quality standards across a variety of gameplay, UI, and technical systems that form the backbone of the game.

  • Gameplay & Systems Testing: Perform comprehensive manual and exploratory testing across foundational gameplay systems, ensuring core functionality, responsiveness, and player experience are consistent across all supported platforms
  • Technical & Pipeline Validation: Test and validate underlying technical frameworks, including asset pipelines, data integration, and backend systems, to ensure performance, stability, and reliability in live and development environments
  • UI/UX & Presentation Quality: Evaluate the usability, clarity, and consistency of in-game interfaces and overlays — including menus, tooltips, notifications, and transitions — ensuring a seamless and intuitive player experience across devices and resolutions
  • Player Flow & Accessibility: Validate onboarding, account creation, navigation flows, and internal deep-linking behaviours to ensure players can access and engage with all key features smoothly
  • Regression & Compatibility Testing: Conduct structured regression passes and stability checks following feature implementations, UI changes, and engine or Unity upgrades, identifying regressions and maintaining cross-platform compatibility
  • Bug Tracking & Reporting: Log and track issues in JIRA, ensuring all defects are clearly documented with reproducible steps, environment details, and supporting evidence.
  • Test Planning & Documentation: Develop and maintain clear, detailed test cases, test plans, and regression checklists that evolve alongside the project’s systems and features
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and producers to align testing coverage with feature goals, ensuring efficient communication and timely resolution of quality issues
  • Quality Advocacy: Provide structured feedback on gameplay balance, usability, technical performance, and overall product polish

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of QA experience within the video game industry, ideally on cross-platform or MMO projects
  • Proven expertise in testing complex gameplay systems, user interfaces, and technical frameworks
  • Familiarity with Unity and experience validating large-scale systems following engine upgrades or refactors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in JIRA or similar bug tracking tools
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, self-directed approach to collaboration
  • Experience with UI/UX testing across multiple device form factors (mobile, tablet, PC)

At Scopely, we create games for everyone - and want to ensure that the people behind our games reflect that!   We are committed to creating a diverse, supportive work environment where everyone is treated with respect. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us & embrace the adventure!

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
