Job Description

The Senior Project Manager will lead and deliver complex medium to large-scale projects across Digital, IT, Data, and business transformation domains. This includes managing resources, schedules, budgets, and ensuring adherence to project governance and control frameworks. The successful candidate will be accountable for identifying and mitigating risks, resolving issues, and managing change requests to ensure timely and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and design projects, proactively monitor progress, resolve issues, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Manage project budgets, track actual and forecasted expenditures, and report to programme management.
  • Coordinate with third-party suppliers and delivery partners to ensure timely fulfilment of obligations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage risks and issues that may impact project outcomes.
  • Operate change control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track and report interdependencies with other projects and communicate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate resourcing to meet project delivery plans and milestones.
  • Provide regular progress updates through highlight reports and structured PMO processes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams within matrix organisational structures to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience delivering complex projects in Digital, IT, Data, or business transformation for large or medium organisations.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery using PRINCE2 or similar methodologies; extensive experience with Agile, SCRUM, and Waterfall.
  • Strong leadership, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Experience engaging with senior client stakeholders and managing expectations.
  • Experience creating and managing large-scale project plans and achieving key milestones.
  • Skilled in risk and issue management, with a track record of problem-solving and mitigation.
  • Experience in resource management and forecasting within matrix delivery structures.
  • Familiarity with structured PMO environments and defined processes and procedures.

Additional beneficial & sector skills:

  • Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, ITIL
  • Technical Background: Experience in large IT infrastructure projects,  Enterprise Applications migrations & upgrades including vendor management.
  • Utilities Sector: Experience with SCADA, OT systems, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Enterprise Systems: Hands-on experience with Oracle Network Management System (NMS), Maximo and or Copperleaf (Asset Management systems), and ERP implementations.
  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of security frameworks, change control, and sector-specific compliance requirements.
  • Public Sector: Familiarity with public sector framework contracts (e.g., Crown Commercial Services) is a plus.
