Job Description:

Airbus Public Safety and Security (PSS), an Airbus business unit, offers advanced communication and collaboration solutions to gather, process and deploy intelligence. Its portfolio is tailored to the needs of Public Safety, Defence and Transport, Utility and Industry (TUI). It includes infrastructures, devices, applications and services based on Tetra, Tetrapol and Broadband technologies (either single, hybrid or multi-technology solutions). As the European leader and a key international player, PSS has customers in more than 80 countries and employs around 1,150 people in 17 countries.

The technical team of Airbus in Belgium is looking for a Project Manager (m/f/d) to join our company in Diegem (Belgium).  

The Project Manager (m/f/d) will manage projects with top-down oversight from conceptual design to completion. He/she must ensure that all projects adhere to the required standards of budget, timeline and scope. He/she must also develop project plans that merge customer needs with company goals, and coordinate the project team members and technical personnel throughout all stages of the project. The projects in the task area are classified as Iron and bronze according to Group Categorisation.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate team members and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans
  • Ensure that all projects pass the Operational Readiness Assessment before transferring to operations
  • Preparation of the project specifications: Work breakdown structure (WBS), schedule, resource requirements, cost plan, risk management)
  • Creation of supplier requirements, support of purchasing during negotiations
  • Target/actual comparison of costs, deadlines, project progress, etc.
  • Ensuring logistics during project implementation

Qualification & Skills:

  • Completed university degree (Master), e.g. electrical engineering/telecommunications engineering, industrial engineer or comparable
  • PMI certification (PMP), PRINCE2 or comparable
  • More than 3 years of professional experience in the field of telecommunications or IT project management and/or in the roll-out of radio systems
  • Understanding of the processes and interrelationships of the business,
  • Familiar with ITIL, SIAM, SCRUM and SAFe
  • Used to being in contact with customers and manage subcontractors / partners
  • Confident use of MS-Office incl. MS-Project
  • Think economically when making decisions and strategically with regard to follow-up business with the customer
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • People manager, able to apply the different management styles (delegating, supporting, coaching, directing)
  • Fluent language skills in English and at least French or Dutch is a must.

A security clearance is required for this position or must be issued by the recognized authorities.
