The Project Engineer will manage automotive body exterior systems, liaising with clients and suppliers, supporting builds, and coordinating engineering tasks to meet project goals.
- Act as the key interface between EDAG and the customer(s) for interior commodities (including closures, exterior trim, glazing and interfaces) with the ability to professional interact with clients on-site and off-site
- Support meetings, e.g. steering committees, project reviews, start-up meetings, etc.
- Direct and liaise with local and EDAG Group technical design / engineering resource to achieve project goals.
- Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documentation
- Maintain customer’s part release system
- Collaborate with interior system suppliers and support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events
- Controlling data maturity and status including recording and tracking issues.
- Tracking of interior targets including function, timing, performance, cost weight and quality.
- Coordinate cross-functional reviews for the resolution of technical issues.
- Support prototype, pre- and production vehicle builds.
- Provide the interface for all functions of programme team.
- Demonstrate EDAG's excellent reputation while working directly and seamlessly with customers on their projects.
Requirements
- Engineering degree 2:1 or above
- +5 years’ experience of automotive programmes preferably in Body Exterior systems
- Ability to overcome cultural barriers
- Demonstrate strong customer, team & supplier management skills
- An ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure and to manage time effectively under tight and rigid deadlines
- Ability to identify key project attributes targets related to the role and support through the appropriate level of vehicle/system analysis
- Relevant experience in Master Sections, Vehicle Integration, Vehicle packaging, Concept creation, assembly processes of various exterior parts.
- Ability to perform interior packaging study of the components
- Demonstrate FMEA and root cause analysis experience
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, ideally Green Belt qualified
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Very good proficiency in CATIA V5/V6
- Mircosoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, Visio
