The Role

We are looking for a structured, curious, and customer-focused Product Owner to join our cross-functional Agile team. This is a mid-level role suited to someone who is confident in delivery but looking to step up toward further responsibilities in the near future.

You will act as the critical bridge between Product, Engineering, UX, and our clients. You will translate product vision and commercial objectives into clear, structured, and actionable work for the scrum team, while developing deeper ownership of product outcomes, user experience, and data-informed decision making.

This role is ideal for someone with B2B SaaS experience and has a methodical, highly organised mindset whilst also being comfortable working with ambiguity and able to independently pick up new domains quickly. A background in development or technical delivery is highly beneficial, particularly if paired with a strong interest in product strategy, UX, and data.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Delivery Ownership

  • Own and manage the product backlog (via Jira), ensuring clarity, structure, prioritisation, and readiness of work for the scrum team.
  • Break down Epics into clear, structured User Stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions and ensure stories are technically and functionally sound before development begins.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and QA throughout the development lifecycle to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.
  • Facilitate strong Agile ceremonies and support continuous improvement within the scrum team.

Customer & Stakeholder Focus

  • Act as the voice of the customer within the scrum team, ensuring real user problems remain central to delivery decisions.
  • Engage directly with clients when required to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and gather feedback.
  • Work closely with commercial and customer-facing teams to triage, assess, and prioritise customer-reported issues.
  • Ensure solutions deliver measurable customer and business value.

UX Contribution

  • Develop a strong understanding of user journeys, workflows, and customer pain points within our B2B SaaS environment.
  • Contribute to UX discussions, process flows, and experience improvements.
  • Champion usability, clarity, and simplicity in product design.

Technical & Data Awareness

  • Collaborate with Engineering to understand architectural considerations and technical trade-offs.
  • Write clear and technically sound requirements
  • Use data and analytics to validate outcomes and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Critically evaluate existing product and architectural decisions to drive continuous improvement.

Required Competence and Skills

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner in a B2B SaaS organisation.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, managing backlogs, and guiding delivery teams.
  • Demonstrable customer focus and experience working directly with clients or stakeholders.
  • Experience writing high-quality, technically aware product requirements.
  • Passion for data-driven product decisions and measuring outcomes.
  • Strong organisational and structured thinking skills, with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to confidently liaise between engineers, commercial teams, and customers.
  • Self-starter mentality, and ability to pick up new domains quickly with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivery outcomes.

Desirable

  • Background in software development, engineering, or technical architecture.
  • Experience with travel platforms, booking systems or other transactional/e-commerce systems.
  • Experience working with back-office agent tooling systems.
  • Additional European language skills.

Why us?

  • We are an accredited flexible company and were named in Flexa’s Top 50 Most Flexible Companies: https://flexa.careers/companies/silverrail

  • We utilise a hybrid working model, providing equipment for home working alongside one or two monthly visits to our beautiful central London office.

  • We offer a highly competitive benefits package including private healthcare and rail discounts.

  • We provide a wealth of career development opportunities with training that is individual, focused on improving your skills and helping you become the best professional you can be.

  • Our team’s health and wellness is genuinely important to us, so we offer a number of wellbeing seminars and membership to the #1 leading meditation app.

  • A unique opportunity to work for a tech company that is helping the environment by revolutionising the way we travel.

Our values are simple: Do Good by working for a better tomorrow; Think Big Act Smart by being curious, adaptable and data-driven; and remember that through collaboration we will always be Stronger Together

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
