Description

We're looking for a passionate Product Manager to help drive the vision, strategy and delivery of products that enable a seamless participant/volunteer journey from start to finish. You'll help take us from recruitment, ongoing engagement, provision of health-related feedback, through to participation in a follow-on research study.

Through close collaboration with engineers, product designers, ethics managers and wider stakeholders, your work will directly influence the experience that volunteers (also known as participants) who sign up to Our Future Health have with us.  Our participants enable Our Future Health to accelerate research to enable people to live longer and healthier lives – their trust, and their experience is a top priority.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Owning the vision, mission and strategy for products that enable us to provide an optimal participant experience from recruitment through to engagement in a re-contact study.
  • Conducting user research and research with other Biobanks to identify how best to capture and manage participant consent in a way that works both for our participants and Our Future Health.  This will involve having to balance competing priorities and working with different stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Working with each of the participant facing squads (recruitment, engagement, questionnaires and recontact) to ensure that our interactions with participants are enabled by technologies and platforms that enable a seamless participant experience and build trust.
  • Keeping laser-focused on our participant users, while remaining continually mindful of our business goals and wider mission to support the improved tracking, prevention and treatment of disease via our research programme.
  • Working with internal and external delivery partners to explore emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborating with and influencing stakeholders across the organisation, across a variety of seniority levels.
  • Championing user needs and evidence-based decision making.  Actively contributing to the growth of the wider product community.
Requirements

You will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Product Manager, developing complex products or services that either have significant consumer reach or deal with complex ethical experiences. Experience within a health domain is beneficial but not essential, this may be in epidemiology, clinical research, digital health, genomics, pharma/life sciences, the NHS, or in a Product role within another health company.
  • Experience of coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve a shared goal, ideally in a challenging stakeholder environment with competing business priorities. Including the ability to work with engineering teams within an Agile environment.
  • Data-driven approach, with experience establishing mechanisms to define and track qual/quantitative metrics to measure and monitor product success and impact on end users.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with an understanding about how to influence and facilitate decision-making and bring people together to align on a shared goal or objective.  Including experience working with external suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and delivered.
  • A tenacious and collaborative approach to problem solving with the curiosity and intellect to explore ideas and opportunities and inspire product teams to achieve delivery targets.
  • Ability to work in an environment of change - comfortable navigating shifting priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to develop a rich understanding of user needs, pain points and motivations across multiple domains. Passionate about taking a user-centred approach to product development.
  • Experience working within platforms or products that process complex interactions. With an appreciation of compliance requirements, ideally with experience of developing digital products in a highly regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
  • Proven user centred approach with evidence of placing user needs at the heart of decision making and development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
  • Comfort in ambiguity and fast paced environments, with the ability to adapt quickly to a changing landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
