About Accelerant

Accelerant is a data-driven risk exchange connecting underwriters of specialty insurance risk with risk capital providers. Accelerant was founded in 2018 by a group of longtime insurance industry executives and technology experts who shared a vision of rebuilding the way risk is exchanged – so that it works better, for everyone. About the Role

As Product Governance Manager, you’ll play a critical role in supporting Accelerant and MGA Members in the full lifecycle delivery across multiple European markets.  You’ll be a central point of expertise behind how products are designed, refined, reviewed, approved and governed in accordance with applicable commercial and regulatory requirements.

You’ll collaborate with and be a trusted go-to person for numerous internal and external stakeholders, including Member Relationship Directors, Underwriting, Claims, Risk and Compliance colleagues, as well as MGA Members.

This is an opportunity to make a vital impact by supporting the business on a continued journey of growth, through continued MGA Member and product expansion.

You’ll enjoy a fast-paced environment — working with autonomy, influence and visibility. At the same time, you’ll ensure robust fulfillment of internal processes and regulatory requirements, including FCA PROD, Consumer Duty and ICOBS rules and corresponding European Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) rules.

What You’ll Do

1. Product Governance Collaboration and Execution

  • Validate new product approval requests from Members, ensuring the completion of the product governance process and supporting artefacts, e.g. policy documentation and internal functional due diligence, e.g. Actuarial and Underwriting reviews.
  • Ensure the target market is well defined and associated risks have been evaluated in the context of applicable regulatory jurisdiction.
  • Validate significant adaptations, or withdrawals of existing products, with due consideration to the impact on customers and adherence to supporting processes.
  • Ensure the coordination and fulfilment of scheduled product reviews and fair value assessments, including supporting and challenging product outcomes and ensuring any applicable actions are defined and completed.
  • Obtain all required stakeholder approvals as part of completing each product lifecycle process.
  • Maintain oversight of product, customer outcomes and risk indicators, escalating issues where needed.
  • Provide timely expertise and support to all colleagues and Members as required.

2. Management Information and Reporting

  • Collate product governance related reporting for the Product Oversight & Governance Committee, Management Committee and Company Boards including KPIs and contextual updates.
  • Maintain the product approval tracker and product register.
  • Support with the collation and submission of regulatory reporting returns, e.g. FCA Value Measures.
  • Use Accelerant’s Analytics Platform to extract insights, monitor performance, and inform fulfillment of product governance processes.
  • Support with the timely and accurate delivery of product governance information to Accelerant ‘Risk Exchange’ partners – typically third-party insurance companies.

3. Process Enhancement and Compliance

  • Support in maintaining Accelerant’s product governance policies, processes and guidance documentation.
  • Bring fresh thinking - Identify and manage opportunities for continuous improvement for processes, controls and stakeholder engagements.
  • Stay abreast of market and regulatory developments (FCA, PRA, NBB, Lloyd’s, etc.) and ensure adherence to Accelerant’s standards.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all interactions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
