Job Description

This is a new role that sits within our UK Product Compliance and Risk team, forming part of the 1st line of defence. We’re looking for a Fraud Manager to join the Wise mission who will work across our Product and Compliance team to strengthen our coverage of Fraud in the UK market. This is a unique opportunity to get hands-on with the controls, products and features that directly impact the Wise mission.

We’re looking for a candidate with direct experience of implementing effective and customer centric fraud controls in the UK market. 

In this role, you will:

  • Use data to define the effectiveness of fraud controls in the UK, working with regional product teams to identify emerging risks. 

  • Advise Product and Operational teams on how to interpret financial crime regulations in the UK.

  • Identify and drive enhancements that could improve customer experience for customers under our UK licence. 

  • Provide support to operational teams in escalations of Authorised Push Payment Reimbursement (APPR) cases. 

  • Work with auditors in explaining and defending our Fraud controls as well as agreeing on appropriate remedial actions. 

  • Represent Wise in external meetings with banking partners, regulators and industry bodies, being able to explain our products, controls and processes. 

  • Represent Wise at industry and public body events. Building relationships with our peers and partners, sharing best practices and keeping abreast of fraud risk. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in financial crime controls in a financial institution, FinTech or consulting firm (including at least 1 year specialising in Fraud). 

  • Strong experience in Authorised Push Payment fraud, including the implementation/execution of the reimbursement scheme in the UK. 

  • Experience in implementing fraud controls for consumers and/ or businesses. 

  • Collaboration skills with Product, Engineering and Operations teams.

  • Ability to interpret data and create actionable insights/ proposals. 

  • An understanding of how to implement and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).

  • Willingness to challenge teams and themselves on how to best serve our customers, while keeping processes robust and compliant.

  • In-person collaboration in our London office required, along with a willingness to travel on occasion to our offices in Europe and further afield.
