Job title: Pre-Sales Consultant - Energy Retail

Location: London/Bristol - Hybrid

Salary: £72,000 - £84,000

Team: Growth

Reporting To: Head of Client Solutions

Closing date for applications: Monday 4th August 2025

Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.

From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.

We champion a flexible, hybrid work approach and we find that teams often benefit from coming together in the office at least once a week to foster connection and accelerate progress.

Outside of these collaborative opportunities, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life. As a company we come together annually for our conference and end of year celebrations!

What will I be doing?

As a Pre-Sales Consultant for Kaluza’s Retail Energy Platform, you will be responsible for understanding the needs of prospective and existing customers and designing tailored solutions to help them achieve their organisational goals and meet a client's target outcomes.

This role will report to the Head of Client Solutions and play a direct role in sales to Kaluza’s largest clients globally. You will have broad expertise on Kaluza’s product suite, depth in particular areas and strong market knowledge of the typical legacy solutions available on the market.  You will develop a good understanding of the challenges facing retailers from a client or user perspective and provide key input to the sales process.

You will play a crucial role in the technical side of a sale, evangelising the Kaluza platform and applying a consultative approach to helping customers understand the advantages of using it.

Your key responsibilities broadly include:

  • Support senior consultants in developing tender responses and client proposals.
  • Contribute to client discovery sessions by capturing requirements and assisting in analysis.
  • Assist in the configuration and delivery of product demos and deep dives.
  • Learn to map customer needs to solution components using internal frameworks.
  • Build foundational knowledge of the energy retail landscape and common client challenges.
  • Document follow-up actions from meetings and due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to support deal development.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll…

  • Have experience working in a commercial role focussed on sales of SaaS solutions in the energy industry.
  • Be passionate about renewable energy and consumer businesses.
  • Understand the energy industry and the role of retailers and utilities within it.
  • Have strong attention to detail and willingness to learn quickly.
  • Be a team player, open communicator and collaborator - keeps colleagues up-to-date, shares and learns without prompting.
  • Have a start-up mentality and ability to self-organise.
  • Be passionate about working in a dynamic environment and responding to change.
  • Have high emotional intelligence and ability to empathise and work through differing opinions.
  • Know your strengths, yet recognise there’s always more to learn from others.
  • Build bridges with people across the organisation.

What will set you apart:

  • Experience in the energy industry working in software sales, consulting or in a relevant client organisation.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and distil complex concepts into easy to understand points.
  • Experience in a role that demonstrates a customer centric focus.
  • Knowing when and how to measure success. You don’t just use data, you know when to use what sort of data and the questions you need to help you answer.
  • Experience architecting large scale, impactful software solutions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
