JOB PROFILE TITLE: Trainee Product Consultant

SALARY: £21,600 - £24,600

Placement Product Consultant – Early Careers Programme

Our Placement Programme is a supportive, hands-on opportunity for undergraduate students to grow with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.

What is a Placement?

Eligibility:
This programme is designed for undergraduate students currently in their second year, preparing to enter their third. It’s a 12-month fixed-term contract beginning in summer, forming part of a sandwich year at Level 6. We welcome applications from candidates who meet these criteria and are excited to explore their potential in a real-world setting.

Purpose:
This placement offers a full year of immersive industry experience, allowing you to bring your academic learning to life. You’ll gain meaningful insights, build relationships, and develop practical skills that will shape your future career.

Your Role as a Placement Product Consultant

As a Placement Product Consultant, you’ll be a valued member of our client-facing consulting teams across Healthcare and Public sectors. You’ll collaborate with others to understand user and business needs, contribute to business analysis activities, and help shape user stories that make a difference.

You’ll be supported every step of the way, working alongside experienced consultants who are passionate about mentoring and sharing knowledge. By the end of the programme, you’ll be equipped with the skills and confidence to help transform organisations—and perhaps even become one of our future leaders. (Fun fact: 11 of our 17 leadership team members began their journey through our Early Careers Programme!)

We embrace a dynamic, fast-paced environment where adaptability, curiosity, and teamwork are celebrated. You’ll have opportunities to explore different teams, projects, and disciplines—growing both professionally and personally.

Working Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You’ll be expected to work from your contracted office one day per week, with flexibility and support built in.

Travel Expectations: At Kainos, we work with a diverse range of clients and some of our projects require travel. If travel were required, we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum and ensure sufficient notice is provided.

Popularity of scheme: We’re looking forward to receiving and reviewing your application. We strongly encourage you to apply early. If a high number of applications are received, this role may close earlier than the advertised deadline. In cases where a large volume of applications is received, the recruitment team will apply enhanced criteria to refine the shortlisting process.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
