We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to establish and lead a new dedicated Trade Assistant team within our London Operations division, with a specialised focus on Fixed Income Bonds and Repo transactions. This critical role will serve as a vital bridge between our Fixed Income and Repo Sales and Trading desks and various Operations functions, driving efficiency, transparency, and proactive problem-solving specifically within the Fixed Income and Repo post-trade lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a high-performing team from the ground up, implementing robust processes and controls.

Your key responsibilities
Establish a new London-based Trade Assistant team focused on Fixed Income and Repo with support from non-UK locations.
Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the team consistently meets and exceeds service level agreements (SLAs)
Act as the primary point of contact and escalation for Fixed Income and Repo Sales and Trading desks regarding post-trade operational queries and issues
Drive the resolution of delayed and failed fixed income bond and repo settlements, liaising effectively with Middle Office, Settlement Teams, and external counterparties (e.g., Blackrock, BONY, Citi).
Improve visibility and reporting on fixed income and repo settlement statuses, providing clear, concise updates to trading desks and relevant stakeholders.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk, and Compliance specific to fixed income and repo markets.
Your skills and experience
Solid experience in Operations within a global investment bank, with significant exposure to Fixed Income Bonds and Repo post-trade processing, settlements, and reconciliation.
Proven experience in managing, leading, and developing high-performing teams, with a track record of building new functions or significantly transforming existing ones.
Deep understanding of fixed income and repo trade lifecycles, including SBL (Stock Borrow Loan), collateral management, and DTC/ECLR processes. Strong knowledge of industry settlement practices for fixed income instruments, market infrastructure (e.g., BONY, Citi, DTC), and regulatory requirements.
Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to identify operational risks, analyse complex problems, and implement effective solutions within a fixed income and repo context. Prior experience with trade booking systems and workflows
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, industry certifications) are a plus.
