We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Network Engineer with deep expertise in routing, switching, wireless networking, and emerging network automation practices. This is a hands-on engineering role supporting a major global client, requiring up to 75% travel across international and domestic locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying, supporting, and optimizing enterprise networks—including advanced technologies such as VRFs, VXLAN, MPLS, EIGRP, BGP, RSVP, and Wi-Fi—while also contributing to automation efforts using Python and APIs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, deploy, and support enterprise-class routing, switching, and wireless networks across multiple client locations.
  • Configure and troubleshoot advanced L2/L3 features including VRFs, VLANs, VXLAN overlays, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, RSVP, and MST.
  • Conduct Wi-Fi surveys, access point placements, and RF optimization using Ekahau.
  • Support automation and efficiency by leveraging Python scripts, REST APIs, and tools like Postman to validate and deploy configurations.
  • Collaborate with global teams to maintain design consistency, adhere to architectural standards, and ensure service excellence.
  • Interface directly with client stakeholders to assess requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver project-based solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for network topologies, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and operational readiness for client and internal support teams.

 REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering, with strong focus on routing, switching, and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience with:
    • Routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
    • Layer 2 protocols: MST, VLANs, STP
    • Advanced features: VRFs, MPLS, RSVP, VXLAN
    • Wireless technologies: Cisco or Aruba WLAN solutions, Wi-Fi RF planning and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of network automation practices, including:
    • Python scripting for configuration tasks and output parsing
    • REST APIs and tools like Postman for interacting with network controllers
    • Familiarity with controller-based systems like Cisco DNAC, Aruba Central, or Meraki Dashboard APIs
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a methodical approach to resolving complex issues.
  • Experience in client-facing, service delivery, or consulting roles in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%, including international assignments, sometimes on short notice.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cisco certifications (CCNP – Enterprise or Wireless preferred) or Aruba/Juniper certifications
  • Experience working with global clients or large-scale enterprise environments
  • Exposure to network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Catalyst Centre, Meraki Cloud, Juniper MIST)
  • Understanding of network security best practices, including segmentation and NAC
  • Experience contributing to network automation frameworks using Ansible, Python, or REST APIs
  • Exposure to network-as-code workflows and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management best practises

TRAVEL & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This role requires up to 75% travel, including international assignments. This may also include being placed on client sites abroad for long durations.
  • Travel may be scheduled on short notice, depending on client needs.
  • Candidates must have travel clearance to various countries. This role may require the individual to move quickly from one country to another and so there can be no visa restrictions.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
