  • RF Planning and Design

  • Strong knowledge of RF design principles, including link budget calculations, cell planning, and interference analysis

  • Expertise in propagation modeling tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, iBwave)

  • Advanced understanding of coverage, capacity, and QoS requirements for networks (2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G)

  • Proficiency in frequency planning, spectrum analysis, and reuse techniques

  • Network Design and Implementation

  • Expertise in designing high-capacity and scalable networks for urban, suburban, and rural environments

  • Ability to analyze and optimize network performance metrics like throughput, latency, and SINR

  • RAN Performance & Optimization

  • RF propagation, link budgets, and coverage planning

  • Familiarity with technologies like GSM, WCDMA, LTE, VoLTE, 5G NR

  • Knowledge of antenna theory, MIMO, and beamforming

  • Network Optimization Expertise

  • Drive test analysis and post-processing (tools like TEMS, NEMO, or Actix)

  • KPIs monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization for coverage, capacity, and QoS

  • Parameter optimization (neighbor planning, handover, interference management)

  • 5G and IoT Knowledge

  • Expertise in 5G NR features (e.g., NSA/SA modes, spectrum sharing, network slicing).

  • Understanding of IoT/Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC) requirements

  • System Integration and Troubleshooting

  • Working knowledge of network interfaces and protocols (e.g., S1, X2, NG, eCPRI)

  • Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end network issues, including Core and RAN

  • Regulatory Standards and Compliance

  • Familiarity with local spectrum regulations and global standards (3GPP, ITU)

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
