Role Summary and Purpose

The role requires effective management and leadership of a team to deliver the required personal and team results, activity, and behaviours in accordance with Arch values and guidelines. To achieve personal and team objectives through the delivery of efficient case underwriting service to brokers.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contributing to wider NTT success by working collaboratively and effectively with the NTT Management team to support achievement of NTT objectives and strategy.
  • Responsibility for achieving and maintaining an effective, inclusive and stable team delivering their required outputs and managed in accordance with Arch guidelines.
  • Involvement in the recruitment process; recruiting additional team members when appropriate, collaborating with other stakeholders in process as appropriate, and in accordance with Arch procedures.
  • Managing team performance; ensuring good understanding of current performance levels, ensuring underperformance is identified quickly, and addressed effectively and in accordance with Arch guidelines. Undertake effective and documented 1-1’s with team members. Assist with the creation of SMART personal objectives.
  • Manage own and teams workflow in accordance with prescribed processes to successfully deliver our strong service strategy, required SLAs and quality standards. Adapt priorities of team in collaboration with stakeholders according to changing needs.
  • Ensuring personal and teams adoption, deployment and adherence to company and NTT prescribed processes and practices (e.g. 4-call process, prescribed file and technical governance, standard work, supporting quality assessment process, positive and productive contribution to huddles etc).
  • Review team processes and collate feedback and work collaboratively to identify solutions to remove blockers, aide continuous improvement and find efficiencies.
  • Achieve personal, and teams targets by managing and operating to the Key Performer Indicators and strategic direction of the UKR
  • Enhance Arch’s standing and presence nationally by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues in the regions and staff at the Regions’ most important brokers. Supporting your team to achieve the same through effective coaching, support and performance management.
  • Act as the principle escalation point for brokers, including complaints. Effectively resolve these escalated matters through application of strong ownership, effective delegation, and a solution and customer focussed approach.
  • Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of relevant technical issues. Supporting your team to achieve the same through effective coaching, support and performance management. Establish and maintain team focus on personal development, including licence progression. Identify and create opportunities to assist individuals with achieving their objective and Personal Development Plans.
  • Contribute to the technical knowledge of the Company by feeding back technical and commercial market intelligence to the National Trading Team Underwriting Manager & wider team. Supporting your team to achieve the same through effective coaching, support and performance management.
  • Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, especially the regions, claims and survey teams, when required. Supporting your team to achieve the same through effective coaching, support and performance management.
  • Ensuring any relevant communications are shared with the team, regions or relevant stakeholders in the appropriate format(s) and in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the NTT management team with the creation and presenting of monthly team meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs). Assisting with ad hoc reporting requests from stakeholders.

Role Requirements & Skills

Skills / Competencies

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Underwriting required
  • Experience in effective line management desirable

Qualifications

  • Minimum A level standard preferred

Experience

  • The job holder will have at least 5 years’ experience in the Commercial Insurance industry, strong interpersonal skills and work in a structured, organised and planned manner.
