The App & API Protection team builds Datadog’s runtime application-security product. By coupling distributed traces and code-level context with real-time security signals, the product continuously discovers every API endpoint , visualises end-to-end attack flows and can automatically block suspicious requests or bad actors . It detects and prioritises threats against web, serverless and API workloads in production with 24 × 7 monitoring of code-level and open-source vulnerabilities  .
This position will play a critical role in driving the vision and roadmap while supporting engineering managers, working closely with the Engineering Director as well as Product Managers and Designers.

What You’ll Do:
- Drive the vision & roadmap for App & API Protection, aligning security discovery, posture and detection initiatives. 
- Lead & develop leaders: coach two Engineering Managers and their teams, foster a high-performance, inclusive environment and create clear growth paths.
- Drive technical excellence across low-latency detection pipelines, scalable policy engines and flexible deployment options, maintaining world-class reliability and performance.
- Cultivate innovation: identify opportunities to advance threat-signal quality and customer time-to-value; champion experimentation and adoption of emerging security technologies.
- Deliver through metrics: define OKRs, manage execution, and communicate impact to Product, Security Research, GTM and executive stakeholders.
- Recruit & retain talent: partner with Recruiting to hire diverse engineers and mentor them through Datadog’s growth-mindset culture.
Who You Are:
- Product-minded engineering leader who instinctively connects technical decisions to customer value—partnering with Product, Design, and GTM teams to shape intuitive features, balance trade-offs, and ship outcomes that delight security and platform users.
- Have managed multiple teams and individuals for over 4 years, including at least 1 year of managing other managers.
- You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Skilled in setting team goals and prioritizing features that align with business needs.
- Effective at giving and receiving feedback, enhancing the work environment and team collaborations.
- Possess excellent teamwork, communication, and technical problem-solving skills to contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams through the full design process from concept to launch, with minimal oversight.
- Maintain a growth mindset, actively seeking learning opportunities and new challenges.
