Team/Role Overview

The Legal Support Lead Manager is a senior level, non-attorney role, responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team. This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with thorough understanding of the Citi Legal Team. Management responsibility of a team, including management of people and planning. The overall objective of this role is to provide support to the Legal Team.

What you’ll do

  • Be responsible for the execution and delivery of legal support activities related to legal operations, including global legal invoice payment processing and service delivery related activities
  • Manage day to day metrics monitoring and SLA governance against legal invoice volume, assigning production targets and tasks to the team
  • Serve as subject matter expert to global partners, key stakeholders and senior legal managers by managing day-to- day legal support activities and providing advisory services
  • Continually improve department efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and implementing strategies, process reengineering, project governance and contributing to the standardization/automation and digitalization of work
  • Act as first line of inquiry for questions regarding team policies and procedures, templates and memos
  • Collaborate across control/support functions, lines of business and the legal team on programs, projects and matters of common interest to achieve coordinated and efficient process improvements and legal support solutions
  • Engage with colleagues to resolve complex legal support situations, placing focus on future strategy and efficiencies
  • Monitor execution of team objectives, ensuring established strategies and business plans, policies and procedures are followed as set forth by the Legal team
  • Develop and manage a diverse team by providing guidance, evaluating employee performance and supporting personnel-related matters
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets.

What we’ll need from you

  • Relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services; previous management experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage complex documentation with organization and detail
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior management
  • In-depth knowledge of legal customs and practices, knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry
  • Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
