The business is comprised of two segments: Affluent and High Net Worth.
Affluent encompasses the financial planning business, Quilter Financial Planning, the Quilter Investment Platform and Quilter Investors, the multi-asset investment solutions business.
High Net Worth includes the discretionary fund management business, Quilter Cheviot, together with Quilter Cheviot Financial Planning – offering a highly personalised service to private clients, charities, trustees, and professional partners. As Legal Counsel within Quilter’s Legal department, you will support the asset and investment management businesses, reporting to the Head of Legal. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lawyer to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, providing high-quality legal advice across Quilter’s operations. The role focuses on UK fund structures and involves fund launches, mergers, terminations, FCA applications, and strategic projects. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external counsel on a wide range of regulatory and commercial matters.
Key responsibilities
Draft and review FCA applications for fund changes; liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
Prepare and review fund documentation, including prospectuses and KIIDs.
Draft and negotiate investment management agreements, distribution agreements, and platform agreements.
Provide legal support for regulatory and strategic business change projects.
Advise on commercial and regulatory matters, including technology, market data, and operational services.
The successful candidate:
Qualified solicitor (ideally 4+ years PQE) with experience in funds and asset management (in-house or private practice).
Strong knowledge of UK and EU fund regulatory requirements and FCA rules; ESG/SDR knowledge is a plus.
Familiarity with investment platforms and discretionary investment management propositions (beneficial but not essential).
Confident communicator, able to influence and manage stakeholders; comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively.
Results-driven, analytical, detail-oriented, and professional, with a focus on customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
