Mō te tūranga | About the role
Join us as we reimagine how customers understand and manage their money. We are creating a brand-new squad focused on shaping a more thoughtful and intuitive approach to Personal Financial Management PFM, and we are looking for a Lead Software Engineer who is excited to help build this from the very beginning.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved from early discovery through to delivery. In the discovery phase, you will work closely alongside a Product Owner in a small and trusted partnership, taking time to explore ideas, understand possibilities, and test what is achievable. Together, you will research architectural options, assess feasibility, and gently shape the technical direction.
As the work moves into delivery, the squad will grow and you will support and guide the team as it forms. You will help turn shared insights into meaningful outcomes, creating digital experiences that genuinely add value for our customers.
Ko tō mahi | What you will do
In this role, you will balance hands on engineering with supportive technical leadership, including:
Leading a new squad from its earliest days, helping establish ways of working, delivery rhythms, and an inclusive and trusting team culture.
Exploring new PFM capabilities through thoughtful technical investigation, including integration approaches, third party tools, and modern architectures.
Supporting the transition from discovery into delivery, helping the team build scalable, secure, and high-quality digital experiences.
Making considered technical decisions that align with product goals and long-term business outcomes.
Working closely with product owners, designers, architects, and engineers to shape the roadmap and remove obstacles early.
Caring for the health of our platforms by reducing technical debt and encouraging continuous improvement across code, pipelines, and ways of working.
Mentoring and supporting engineers, helping them grow their confidence, skills, and impact.
Spending around 50 percent of your time on hands on engineering, with the rest focused on system design, technical guidance, and enabling the team to do their best work.
Nā tāu rourou | What you will bring
