Join our Digital Engineering team as a Lead Front-End Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital customer experiences. You’ll lead up to two squads, balancing hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities. This includes driving experimentation, designing and delivering resilient software, mentoring engineers, and championing continuous improvement.

You’ll collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Architects, Principal Engineers, and stakeholders to:

  • Deliver outstanding user-centred digital experiences through innovation and bold experimentation
  • Align solutions with modern engineering best practices
  • Support the technical roadmap and business goals and influence future direction for front-end architecture
  • Minimise technical debt and surface blockers early
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and forward-thinking team culture

This role is approximately 50% hands-on engineering and 50% team enablement, with flexibility based on squad needs.

  • A customer-centric approach combined with operational excellence
  • The ability to translate vision into action
  • A mindset of “strong opinions, held loosely”, embracing feedback and continuous learning

You’ll also be a mentor and role model—supporting the growth of your peers, promoting a culture of automation, and contributing to a psychologically safe and inclusive team environment.

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
