Department OverviewInnovation is the oxygen of our company, and in 2023, we invested more than US$850 million in research and development (R&D). Job Description

This role is office based out of our Cork site in Ireland.

We are looking for a self motivated individual to help move forward the next generation public safety experience, and to work with a team of top experienced professionals to enable mission critical services and solutions.

In this position, you will have various responsibilities in regards to the testing lab and the systems within the testing lab.

These responsibilities include the following items:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software, including servers, routers, and switches

  • Monitoring network performance and identifying ways to improve it

  • Maintaining network security per internal requirements

  • Identifying and solving problems, and documenting fault diagnosis and resolution

  • Provide network support to lab users


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors (BS) or Master’s (MS) degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Defect detection, debugging and regression skills
  • Knowledge of computer networks
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl, bash, etc.)
  • Aptitude to independently learn new technologies
  • Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills 
  • Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and/or in a cross-functional team environment

Desired Skills:

  • Equivalent of Juniper Certification JNCIA-ENT and/or JNCIA-SEC
  • Communicate effectively with people requesting services/support
  • Knows basics of racking, cabling and AC/DC power connections
  • Knows basics of VM deployment and maintenance
  • Knowledge of different types of user authentication (certificates, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (i.e. SolarWinds or custom web based tools)
  • Exposure to Agile/DevOps development practices
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl, bash, etc.)
  • Experience in test automation is a plus
