You will be responsible for maintaining and improving Power BI dashboards and data models that have been initially designed and built by a senior contractor.

Comprehensive documentation of the setup and processes will be provided, and an existing team member will be available to support your onboarding and ongoing development.

A key part of this role involves collaborating with stakeholders across the broking side of the business to gather requirements and ensure reporting solutions meet their needs. You will have opportunities to contribute to other reporting and data projects, working alongside the wider Reporting and IT teams.

This is an ideal role for someone with 1–2 years’ experience in Power BI or business intelligence, looking to develop their skills in a dynamic insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of Power BI dashboards and reports built for Rulebook (Acrisure Connect), with support from comprehensive documentation and guidance from an existing team member
  • Maintain, update, and enhance Rulebook reporting solutions in response to business requirements
  • Collaborate with broking-side stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable reporting solutions
  • Liaise with Verisk as needed to support integration, resolve issues, and implement enhancements
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency in Rulebook reporting outputs
  • Maintain clear documentation for Rulebook reports, data models, and processes
  • Support the Reporting team in delivering project milestones and ongoing reporting objectives
  • Contribute to other reporting and data projects as required, with guidance from the team
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience with Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling (commercial, internship, or academic)
  • SQL skills (ability to write and troubleshoot queries)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to learn about Rulebook (Acrisure Connect), insurance industry data, and reporting
  • Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into reporting solutions
  • Ability to liaise professionally with external vendors (e.g., Verisk)
  • Ability to manage time and tasks effectively, with support from senior team members

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Exposure to insurance, finance, or regulated industries (internships, projects, or previous roles)
  • Familiarity with Rulebook, or similar systems is a plus
  • Understanding of report security and user access controls
  • Experience with other BI or data integration tools
  • Interest in developing technical and business knowledge in a fast-paced environment

What you need to know about the Belfast Tech Scene

If asked to name the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, you might not say Belfast. Similarly, if asked to name Europe's leading destination for foreign direct investment in new software development, Belfast might not come to mind. Yet, both are true. The city has emerged as a tech powerhouse, recently ranked among the best in the U.K. for tech careers — especially for software developers. It also leads the U.K. with the highest percentage of software development jobs advertised.
