Junior Financial Accountant

The Opportunity

QBE Insurance is currently recruiting for a Junior Financial Accountant to join a well-established IT finance department in our Leeds or Stafford Office. You will assist in the control of all IT finances incurred by the IT cost centre budget holders through performing and maintaining processes, financial control and reporting. You will also provide accurate reporting and analysis of all Technology Spend across multiple portfolios and cost centre owners.

Your new role

  • Review and monitor cost centre expenditure to ensure IT costs are kept within budget limits and to highlight and track overspends.

  • Production of insightful analysis on IT expenditure for the Finance Manager.

  • Production of quarterly reforecasts and annual budgets for the Finance Manager.

  • Managing queries in relation to Actuals, plan and expense movements

  • General accounting queries on treatment of Licenses, FAR, balance sheet management (Prepayments, accruals, WIP, Amortization schedules

  • Reconciliation of month end journals and reconciliations prepared by the GSSC

  • Other ad hoc queries and requests requiring support to generate data and results ( Infrastructure projects, etc)

  • Build strong working relationships with cost centre managers to ensure the required level of cooperation and support is achieved and maintained.

  • Drive monthly CAPEX/OPEX reporting and align with global timelines.

  • Challenge individual IT cost centre owners on all aspects of financial management to support robust analysis of IT spend.

  • Support senior management in the preparation and analysis of budgets, costs, forecast and supplier category spend for use in ad hoc projects and initiatives.

  • Monitor ‘Risk and Opportunities’ as they arise and forward plan through day to day expense management practices.

About you

  • 2+ year experience in management and/or project accounting

  • Advanced Excel experience

  • Experience in working for a global organization and driving recharge processes

  • Exposure to Oracle/other financial ledger tools is an advantage

  • Good experience of providing support analysis to cost centre managers with financial delegated authority

  • Process mapping experience, reconciliation skills, working alongside a complex transactional/general ledger
