Job Description

Valeo Foods Group OneIT is organised into global IT domains. The IT Engineer Infrastructure reports to the IT Head of Infrastructure in this team, is an experienced engineer for IT infrastructure technologies for the Valeo Foods Group worldwide IT infrastructure estate.

The IT Infrastructure domain is responsible for all IT infrastructure hardware and software for cloud, data centres, LAN, and WAN, the processes around these IT assets, and the 3rd and 4th level support of the same.

We are looking for an IT Engineer Infrastructure a to, together with the other colleagues in the IT Infrastructure team, create an IT infrastructure environment that is lean, safe, efficient, and constantly kept up-to-date for all VFG sites worldwide. The focus shall always be on using a lean, standardised portfolio of hardware and software, maximising availability, and keeping costs low within the given requirements. Furthermore, the value of stability of solutions shall be a top focus

Key responsibilities: 

  • Under the leadership of the Head of IT Infrastructure to help develop and implement the IT Infrastructure strategy
  • The central team is trained in IT infrastructure technologies
  • A global IT infrastructure target picture is created
  • A plan for how to move to the global IT infrastructure target picture is created for UK, IE and HQ
  • An (Azure) landing zone is set up and all relevant workloads for UK, IE and HQ are moved onto
  • A target WAN and LAN design is created and ready for onboarding sites
  • The plans for fully integrating the Continental European and North American sites is agreed and ready to execute in month 13-24

Qualifications

  • Experienced engineer in the IT infrastructure area with a strong track record in providing great solutions in the IT infrastructure field.
  • Strong experience of IT Infrastructure, a best practice approach to IT infrastructure and have held a similar position for over 3 years.
  • Able to learn new technologies quickly with a keen interest in the subject matter and an eye for details.
  • Experience in the hyperscale technologies (preferable Azure)
  • Experience in virtual server technologies (VMware, HyperV)
  • Experience of ESX high availability environments
  • Strong knowledge and experience in datacentre storage technologies (physical SAN and vSAN )
  • Strong knowledge and experience in datacentre back up and replication technologies (cloud and on premise)
  • Extensive experience working within the datacentre
  • Understanding of LAN and WAN networking technologies
  • Extensive experience working with Windows server technologies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to document and transfer knowledge to the wider team
  • Understanding of business value created by IT, specifically in the area of IT infrastructure
  • Graduate qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline desirable. Although a proven track record of successfully holding similar roles also acceptable. Proven experience of working in the IT infrastructure area. Certification of IT infrastructure technologies / products as well as ITIL or other ITSM certifications is a plus.
