POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an IP and Optical Senior Technical Specialist who can work independently and within a team environment. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and feel comfortable interacting with personnel at all levels. Responsibilities include providing regular and accurate updates, documenting work, and being eager to learn new skills and share knowledge with other team members.
You will work with external customers to provide technical support on Ribbon IP and optical products and systems. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting maintenance contracts

  • Dealing remotely with customer faults and issues, site visits mainly in the London area
  • Raising trouble tickets and working within agreed SLAs
  • Participating in 365 x 24 on-call rota
  • Some overtime will be expected to support the unpredictable nature of the work

Supporting bids for new business

  • Technical support, site visits
  • Staging and preparation of equipment
  • Dealing with customer questions and working with the Ribbon sales team
     

Working with technical documentation, network diagrams, project books and technical procedures.
 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Technical skills required:

  • SDH & PDH        
  • DWDM & OTN
  • MPLS-TP and IP-MPLS
  • CES (Circuit emulation services, TDM over Ethernet)
  • EoS (Ethernet over SDH)

ECI Products:

  • Syncom
  • XDM
  • BG
  • NPT/NPTi  range of IP products
  • Apollo/OTN

Nice to have but not essential

  • VMware ESXi based servers.
  • Solaris/unix & linux servers.
  • Knowledge of DSL access networks and products
  • Experience of Juniper IP products

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK.
