Join Marsh’s DC Consulting Practice as a DC Investment Consultant and play a pivotal role advising a diverse portfolio of clients on their defined contribution investment strategies. You’ll help shape better retirement outcomes by supporting complex, high-profile schemes—covering areas such as performance monitoring, strategy reviews, default investment design, investment changes, and governance documentation—while also taking ownership of relationships for smaller to mid-sized clients as your experience grows.
This is a fantastic opportunity with real scope to develop commercially and technically. You’ll collaborate closely with senior consultants, review and elevate the work of analysts and junior colleagues and contribute to the practice’s growth through client engagement and market presence.
With hybrid working (3 days in the office) across multiple UK locations and study support available toward IMC/FIA/FFA/CFA, Marsh offers a strong platform to accelerate your DC career.
This role can be based in either our London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.
We will count on you to:
- Lead DC investment consulting work for mid-size to large clients, delivering and promoting Marsh’s services.
- Support senior investment consultants on complex clients (e.g., performance monitoring, strategy reviews, default strategy advice, investment changes, and updates to statutory documents).
- Review and quality-check work produced by analysts and junior consultants using Marsh tools and approaches.
- Manage elements of client relationship management, including budgets and commercial oversight for assigned clients.
- Drive proactive revenue generation—retaining existing clients and expanding the range of services delivered across relevant lines of business.
What you need to have:
- Circa 5 years’ experience in a DC investment consulting role (ideally UK DC; comparable experience considered).
- A relevant professional qualification or progress toward one (IMC, FIA/FFA, and/or CFA).
- Strong client consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and credibly.
- Proven experience supporting and/or leading investment advisory work (monitoring, governance, and implementation).
- Demonstrated commercial mindset, including contributing to business development through existing and new client opportunities.
What makes you stand out:
- Experience advising UK DC schemes on default strategy design, performance oversight, and investment change implementation.
- Confidence building internal and external relationships at all levels (clients, providers, and colleagues across teams).
- A proactive, “takes initiative” working style and comfort operating in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
- Project management capability (helpful but not essential).
- A track record of contributing to thought leadership / intellectual capital (e.g., client materials, insights, or market engagement).
Why join our team:
- We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
- We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
- Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
